Its great how those cars looked so "street"...I think they have lost alot of that these days...

HEY Mine still looks the same....That was when i was just braking into the 9's and was going 9.70's or so....funny how just playing around and tuning got that combo from 10.00-9.99's down to 9.20's and a best of 9.18

I beleive the first few pics were from 95'. Reason John Hardesty was still racing the yellow Road Runner in 95' later sold to Mike Robbins. 96' he showed up with a Green Demon that later was sold to Mike Robbins also. The first few pics of the orange duster was one a couple guys from PA had that began with a smallblock and later got a Hemi. I recongnize a later pic of an Orange Duster, different car, raced by John Bauchman son of famed SS racer. John Sr is standing next to the car in the bleach box area.

The orange duster pics are all the same car. Just at different stages. That is Steven Baughman. He ran N/A Indy motors. When it got the Hemi he painted it Purple. You are thinking of a different car, but I'm not too sure who it may be.

Been meaning to scan those pics for awhile. Finally got around to it. Now I just need to find the pics I have from the Mopar Nationals in 96 at Indy. That race probably had the most KOS cars I had ever seen at one race. Don't know what ever happened to the Mike Duke car, haven't seen that car in years........ My car is still together from last year, still need to do some trans upgrades, though. Going to try and make that Pro Max race at Rockingham in April. If you get your car together, you should try and head down for that race.

Kenny may want to go but I don't think his car is legal because of the dry sump. How is The Rock, as far as being a good track or not?

Don't know, I've never been down to the Rock before......I'll get ahold of you when it gets closer to that race.......Yeh, I forgot what Alex's last name was, we bought a 8 3/4 housing off of him years ago. That car could have been a show car or a drag car. Real clean car. Last time I talked to him was at the last race at 75-80. IIRC, he still has the car.

Thanks for the pics! Too bad the KOS stuff went away, I use to chat w/ Omalley all the time between races..Never saw a race being so far away, did get to talk with Andy Mayes and Tony M (Green s/s 72 Duster B1 sb initially then B1 BB later on)at the grand bend nsca races though..

I remember talking to Ken Lazzari(sp?) when I was at Herb McCandless' shop one time about that car.....that car was way scienced out back then. They had alot of work in that car to get it to work with stock suspension and run as fast as it did.

IIRC, they got that car into the 8.90's or 9.00's. when it was still running in KOS. Don't remember if that was with spray or not....a member on this board owns the car now.

The other orange car that had a small block and then had a hemi was owned by two brothers names are Glenn and Wayne out of Delaware forget the last name right now. They quit racing KOS cause the had modified the floor for a trans sheild and were basically thrown out for a rules infraction(must have stock floors). They said it was only done for safety and if the convertor came apart they still wanted to walk afterwards...It is back to a small block now and a driven alot...It's a 74 Duster...They are racing a TAD now and actually had the record last year...

Been a little while since I got to go through a lot of the threads and then I saw this one, AHHHHHHH the good old day's. We were at one of the first KING races at Indy when it was a all motor no power adder heads up class. Good people like Leon, Mike, Jon, Steve & Shelia. It was pretty cool seeing them old 95-96 pictures. Nice job Bill. I got a few from recent events.....

There was a picture of the Demon in a PHR magazine artical covering Memphis and the World Street finals and it had that picture your talking about but John Hardesty owned it then. That magazine had Monty Smith on the cover working on the GTX.

Didn't Mike stand the Cuda on end once, and bend the car up on crash landing? Your Duster has always been one of my favorite KOS cars. Was cool when the series started, and is a work of art now, all redone. Had a chance to see it in St.Louis a couple years ago, and it's a very nice ride.

Wow, Thank You Jeff that was very nice. I think Mike did bang it up a few times but I just can't remember where and when. Mike is hard core, I remember at Rockingham the trans in the tow truck crapped out and they took the trans out of the Cuda and put it in the truck and towed home.

This is Ralph Farrar's Duster. It was a KOS car back in the day. It was owned by Steve Lambert. Used to run a Stage VI headed 440 on juice. I'd love to see if anyone has any pictures of it back when.

It's been updated a bit and has a healthier mill now.

You guys are all forgetting the small block guru who came out and slugged it out with the big blocks, Mike Gray out of Virginia.Here is a couple pics of the Super sanitary duster He and Gearjammerdart built. I think Marty Pearcy has the car now in Tx.

I remember seeing the Chapman 69 Bee go 9.38@143 at Englishtown and it is burned into my brain because the car left with the left front in the air about 2 feet and the right front on the ground! At that time that car was one of if not the fastest car in KOS.That was the car that made me want to build a 69 Bee.Only in Silver and nowhere near as fast.

Yeah the red cuda at the top of the page is my pops. The complete car is still at the house in the shop. He is into all of his show cars and riding his motorcycles now, and says all the late nights and spending all my paychecks to go racing is for me now,he says he's too old for that crap! LOL

What kind of photos you looking for John??
We used to see you at Milan all the time with your car.
It has a full interior, dana 4.10 gears, 440, 727, exhaust, etc.
It has been detuned for now and has gone high 11's on pump gas and gets driven a lot more on the streets now.
Back then it used to go 10.80's and it was street legal, N/A.
