other side:

C'mon, how hard is it to weld to bolts/studs to a piece of bar stock to make sure things like this don't happen?

look's to a 8.750, this a all new case and gut's? or a used one that they built up with new gut's if it's a used case then it might of been the one armed crack monkey that had it before they got it.

For well over a grand it would be nice to get one that doesn't look like hell...

You know, I almost bought a 742 peg leg case the other day and went through it myself (hell, I did rebuilt everything else in the car..)

I was ordering up parts and decided to splurge and order one with new 3.55 gears and sure-grip the other night.

I'm sure it'll be OK, I was just a little ticked when I opened the bag...

If nothing else it makes me question the assembly methods on the rest of the unit.

really does it make any difference performance wise? you sure can't see it going down the track

I've rebuilt 3rd members that have adjusters that look as bad. I have a spanner wrench but that doesn't fix what has been done by the guy before me.

May be ugly but its just cosmetic if the gears are setup right.

it would be nice if everyone used the correct tools but that doesn't hurt a thing

Oh yes he will. EVERY time. The mental image is indelible.
I'd dissasemble and check everything. Looks like a dealership flat rate mechanic assembled it with loving care.

Yeah, unless the parts get scattered all over the track....

Can't really tell what the gear pattern looks like but here's a shot of that:

I would be more worried about blowing the main caps off.

Judging from the rust on the punch marks, the adjusters got beat up during a previous shade tree rebuild.

9 inches was deemed too..well,...Ford-ish. and therefore inadequate.

Mancini built my center section thats in the duster now, looked fine when i installed it and has performed flawlessly..either them or Moser is all i would use for my drivetrain parts

I think its the same guy who checks the blocks to make sure they are not rusty before they ship to a customer!

I have seen WAY worse. As long as its setup correctly I wouldnt worry about it. Mancini is a good shop and good guys.

Seems I heard they send their 3rd member work over to the Ring&Pinion Shop,a couple miles north of them, on Groesbeck,in Clinton Twp. RandyB

That was my first thought, doesn't have anything to do with the function but tacky none the less.

My 3rd member from Mancini was a howler from day 1. Got one from elsewhere and been real happy with it. That said, I still buy from Mancini's once in a while. No more 3rd members, though.

Lets see , 9" or an AUBURN CONE TYPE , which is even a BIGGER POS than the borg warner unit ... I'd take my chances with the 9" ...

oops , did I say that ???
