anyone know the torque specs on dana 60 u-bolts? thanks

depends o the size of the bolts. iirc the stock is not real tight- maybe 60 or so? i have 9/16 u bolts that i torque to 80 ft lbs.

the u bolts are 1/2".

don't know never torqued one. as tight as I can get them with a hand wrench.

here's the official word- 1/2" ubolts- 65 ft lbs, recheck at 50 miles, again at 100, at 500, and every time under the car after that. never reuse u bolts. never use lock washers. use hardened flat washers.

ok, but why can't u bolts be reused? as hard as the nuts came off i can't immagine them coming loose.

my source was eaton spring, so maybe they're just trying to boost u bolt sales? i change mine every couple of years. if they've been in service for a while, i'd change 'em. and go bigger while you're at it!

The OEM nuts are a locking type nut(look for the identation half way down in the center on two sides ) the Mopar service manuals call for 55 FT lbs. on the stock 1/2 inch U bolts and stock nuts, no lock washers or flat washers from the factory, they are to cheap to use them or pay someone (in the UAW) to install them
