dominator to scoop plate how to,ideas,tips. - 09/06/09 10:30 PM

i cant get a baseplate for the dominator for my hillborn scoop.i dont want any ill effects like if i had a flat plate that the carbs stick thru and have it effect the air in a bad way.should i have a 1" taper to the carbs?effect?
thanks for any idea,info.
i have some .090 sheet i am cutting for the basic shape of the plate so can i cut a strip 1" and bent it in a circle and have it tig welded for the transfer to the carb?
please i dont want to CNC a billet 1.

just 2 domi's under a hillborn scoop.it is a bit short in height4.5" but will have to do untel next yr.i just dont want the air to syphon the fuel blowing across the ventury and vent tubes for the bowls.

i dont want any ill effects from the air going over the top of the carbs,flat or raised.the only opening in the scoop will be in the front opening.

Got your drift.... I would add 2 ideal entry's to
the base of the scoop(thats what I call them) some
call them velocity stacks.... might need to shorten
the height of them some but they work great at getting
the air to make the turn... thats what I have on my
pan going into the carb.
It will raise the scoop but that helps get the air
in better

i certainly dont want to make the scoop any taller than i have to.it is even with the roof now.

i was thinking of cutting/forming 2 1" x 22" long strips to make the stack and attach it to the baseplate.[no tapper,streight down]

i have the baseplate opened.now i need to trim the sides to fit the scoop then i can raise it off the carb with a 1" strip and get it welded.i have another scoop also i am using as a backup.

here lies part of the problem with the carbs being as wide as the scoop i need to make the base wider than the scoop so it is all 1 piece.

also i was wondering about the side area to the carbs needed for correct air flow?any ideas?like with my narower scoop the stack would have no side taper but have front back taper.[ideal entry]

i need an airbell for a dominator 7.250 base.

Applied Racing Technology has 2 different types of the air bell.

here is the new version of my scoop, I had a pan made at the local metal shop this time.

Thanks megadart!you have a nice big chamber to collect air.what are you using for a holddown?if i have to drill thru the top of the scoop for the stud i will.

1 thing i did not like was the adaptor plate is not open enough in the center for the dom'si will grind that out this winter.

well it is on tho not ideal on the baseplate.
i need to start the car and set the idle with the new carbs.i had to order so jets for the carbs after removing the PV's that were not supose to be in there on both sides.
