What spark plugs do you guys use for a nitrous application on a 440 with edelbrock heads spraying around 150? I run Autolite 3923 in it normally. Thanks for the help.

You can go with 3932 or NGK 10s.The 10s are easy to read.I like 3932 but can be a pain to get a read on.

For that combo I would use an NGK 9. A 10 will work, but is a little overkill for that combo. I say .030 for the gap on the plugs.

I run NGK 9's with a .030 gap on my 505 motor with ~165 HP shot, and they work great.

I agree the 9s are best,but if he's new to nos the 10s are safe.Plug gap 30 to 35 will work.

What is the actual part # of the NGK 9 or 10? I've never used that brand before. I used to use the kit a few years ago with a stock headed motor, but have only sprayed this motor a couple times when I first built it 4 years ago. On that day I ran a 11.33 n/a and with a 100 shot went 10.60. I didn't change plugs for that amount, just backed the timing down 5 degrees. Thanks for the help.

I believe the 71 's are non and the 72's are projected.

If you miss your tuneup, you can take a strap out on a 9 without damaging the pistons for the most part. If you do this with a 10, the piston will be hurt.

Mike...why is this? Is it just because your tuneup would have to be off more to lose the strap on a 10..or?

I ran that exact same combo hitting it with a 250 shot & a -8 NGK plug , As said before , the NGKs are a lot more forgiving if you loose a ground strap , i think a -10 will be overkill & confuse the tunning process.

You are trying sneak up on lean and "Goldilocks" timing. Doent matter if its fuel, N20 or Alcohol. This applies in So Cal weather too, cant say about back east.

If you nick a 9 (over) the piston is generally ok.

If you nick a 10, the piston has some damage. This is from personal experience because it is such a cold plug.

If you miss it by a mile, it doesnt matter.

BTW, this is some other mis-information in this thread too. Do not run big plug gaps.

I agree 30 to 35 is wide.On his tune it should be fine.On some of my little motors the wide gap helps keep the plugs a little cleaner when not on the jug.
