Wheels Up!

Wheels Up! - 08/17/09 07:59 PM

I know this isn't near as impressive as some of the cool wheelstands that I see on here, but it is the first time my car has ever pulled a wheel that I know of. The track photographer caught it for me.

Not bad for weighing 4050 lbs with me in it, running in the thin air of Bandimere Speedway! Had to show it off!

Re: Wheels Up! - 08/18/09 02:46 AM

Hey what is your engine, trans and suspension combo?
Posted By: 506RR

Re: Wheels Up! - 08/18/09 03:53 AM

Thanks Guys! I am pretty proud of it!

The engine is a 4.25 stroke RB block with Indy SR Heads CNC'd by Jeff at Modern and a Comp Street Solid Roller 292 Cam. I hit it with ~165 shot of nitrous off the line. It has a 727 trans with a Turbo Action 10" 3800 stall and Dana 60 with 3.73 gears. I run Cal-tracs for suspension and 29x14.5 Hoosier QT Pro's.

Best pass is 10.59 @ 127.5

I footbrake the car to 1500 rpm and stomp it from there. No transbrake.

Re: Wheels Up! - 08/19/09 12:09 AM

That is the greatest feeling in the world, a wheels up launch...
I run some what of the same combo.. more stall, less head. I went a 10.42 Sat. @ Norwalk.
I do not have a very good wheels up pic yet. I am affraid to even post this one due to the fact that the other black 68 above will point fingers and make fun. But here is nothing.......

Thanks Dave! Sure wish I would have been there on Sunday to watch you race!

I need to order me some of those Monte Smith shirts! His nitrous tuneups are the main reason that wheel is off the ground! Thanks Monte!

Re: Wheels Up! - 08/19/09 03:38 AM

Get a trans brake, you'll love it! Prior to the trans brake, it would barely lift them, maybe an inch.

It has a 440 Source rotating assembly (4.25 stroke, 7.1 rods)

Re: Wheels Up! - 08/20/09 03:28 AM

That looks great and it runs real good. I was surprised when I saw this pic of my car but the old worn out springs helped it do this. Ron
