I'm not from Phoenix but I did meet the folks at Comp Chassis and have seen some of their work. It was top shelf.

There are a number of chassis shops in Phoenix and surrounding communities. Comp Chassis has been my choice for over 15 years now. Richard sold the business to Mike about 4 or 5 years ago. You will not be sorry you made the decision to have Mike and Stephen perform any work necessary to have a safe and good looking car.

I've used Soper's Fabrication for years now. He's worked on my roadster, Altered, built 2 HemiDarts for me is now working on my third Dart. He's done about 12 Darts I know of & has worked on stuff from nostalgia type cars to PSCA cars. He's in Glendale if you're interested........

Sorry, John. You know how I feel about Jim Soper's workmanship and time frame for getting things completed. If they ever do get completed. Soper's Paint and Fabrication is one shop I would not recommend to have any work done!

Tom Yancer is in Pheonix. He builds a good race car, I am not sure if he does retro stuff. He's in Chandler.

Cool! Half those guys I haven't even heard of. I imagine someone's next question would be: Generally, what do they charge & what experience do they have? Anyone can buy a welder & bender & call himself a chassis builder (we've both seen them). I'm just nervous of paying faaaar more for a job than it's worth then finding out it won't cert. or the builder starts tacking on extras to "up" a price he quoted.
This goes back to what I was saying---everyone here can cite a bad dealing with a shop, the OP just wanted to know what's out there.

We met with and got a bid from Darryl Smith race cars. The shop is top notch but quite $$$$$$$. I have no doubt he could do an excellent job. I just want to compare bids and shops before we lay down a ton of dough.

The car has 515", ported B1's, 13 to 1, dominator. Was told to expect about 750 hp at the crank. It should run mid 9's right?

Everyone of the shops I posted has 10 years or more experience.

Chuck-O's pretty much got the bases covered.
My 62 Valiant has been worked on by Soper's, J-Fab, Comp Chassis, and Brian Smith over the years.
My 70 Challenger has been worked on by Fatman, Comp Chassis, and Brian Smith.
Comp Chassis re-caged my 69 RoadRunner, Brian Smith re-caged my Dad's 70 Challenger, and narrowed the Dana 60, and re-tinned the car.
I consider both Mike Brient of Comp Chassis, and Brian Smith in Arizona City to be craftsmen of the finest order, great Human Beings, and personal friends.
In the medium of Fiberglass, and custom bodywork, Brian Smith has no equal, period. Mike Brient thinks like a racer, but has an eye for the asthetics of a build which sets him apart from most fabricators.
Jody Davis of J-Fab is another friend, who has always excelled at personal service, and a lightning quick turnaround, but his involvement with his fuel business is taking up much of his time.
IMO, it would be a mistake to not get a bid from Comp Chassis, and discuss with Mike your intentions for the car.

Thanks for the responses guys. We're doing our homework and this really helps.
We'll absolutely talk to some of the folks mentioned.
It's not the green car, it's my pops' orange car.
