Suggestions needed- squeal noise at idle???????

Guys, we are talking about a 11.50 second 440 with hyd. cam

Bought the car a few months back, I don't have very much history on it, now it started making a very loud moan/squeal only at idle, if you bring it 100 rpm off idle it's gone. Seems to be coming from the back of the engine/transmission area.

I have ruled out the water pump & alternator bearing being shot. It also doesn't matter if it is in gear, neutral or park.
Any suggestions without tearing it down? Would you lean towards engine or tranny?

Sure it isnt a belt slipping/loose??

It's Fred when he finds the key to the sheep barn. But seriously we had an engine do that and drove a bunch of us nuts,turned out to be a bad PVC valve and the engine was trying to vent it self at the rear main seal.Try taking the breathers or PVC valve off and letting the engine vent at the valve covers.If you think it's the belt remove it and listen for the squeel. I assume you check for anything rubbing(mechanical)

Thanks guys, it's not the belt, Mr. HEMIFRED, about the possibility of loose converter bolts, this is a condition that would go away off idle?

Very interesting, I'm going out to jack it up & check them right now.

Converter bolt generally make a knocking sound like a bad connecting rod.

Mr. George, my dad still has the hemi cuda in Latrobe, i'm waiting for him to get just a little older so maybe I will get to add that car to my stable down here in Oklahoma.

Thanks HEMIFRED, E V E R Y converter bolt was loose, one almost ready to come out.

Guess I better go over this whole car real good before I take it out this weekend for the first time.
