I have been there. Went to their Labor day race. Its a nice little track. I didnt have much trouble with traction. You get 60' and 1/8mile ET MPH. I had a blast when I was there. Ran both classes and ended up with about 18 runs. The only thing is you can be a little late cause you get 3 time trials and then a dial for dollars. I go there at noon and we started elims at 7PM. I would go again though as I said it was one of the most fun days I had at the race track in a while.

Nice 1/8 mile track, old school type. Very narrow with gritty shut down. Wonderful people and they
usually some nice mopars. Duster_Dude and his dad are regulars at Magnolia.
I hope to go myself.

Magnolia is about 10 miles from my house.
Great little track with very friendly people.
I don't get a chance to go there as much as I would like but I have a great time there and I always run into some of my old buddies.

Here I am at the track.

My street/strip car has always hooked very well there, I broke an 8 3/4 axle the first time I took my Challenger there with sticky tires.

Re: Memorial day race at Magnolia OH - 05/07/09 05:43 AM

I have raced there (and done well in eliminations) but be aware...

REAL 'old school'.

Unsanctioned.
Single guardrail.
No dial-in boards.
No score boards.
No win lights visible to the drivers.

Built on a flood plane.
The Fed's don't allow the track to open until May each year and the track has to move out all of the buildings at the end of each season.

=====================

P.S.

There is NO WAY that Magnolia is 2 hours from Tonawanda unless you drive a jet car.

Google Maps shows 4 hrs 32 min (259 miles with half of that on 2 lane roads)

=====================

P.S. Plus...

If you are going to make the trip for Magnolia's Monday event, come a few days early as Dragway 42 is offering one of its holiday "Cheap Race Weekends".

Fri: Test and Tune plus optional 100% payback gambler race.
Sat: Guaranteed $1,000 to win Box/No Box combo
Sun: Guaranteed $1,000 to win Box/No Box combo

TOTAL 3-DAY WEEKEND ENTRY FEE:
Just $50.00 car and driver!

Dragway 42 and Magnolia are located 67 miles apart (only about 10 miles of 2-lane roads).

Perhaps you missed out on the debut last year of Dragway 42's new 1,200 gallon water truck.

The track also added a new (Mopar) track safety truck complete with Hurst Jaws of Life, enhanced rescue equipment, and a 4-fold increase in fire fighting capacity.

triplenickel/StreetShaker, or whatever you choose to go by depending on the site, What would 42 ever do without you?

If people really cared about what was going on at 42, they would be asking about it instead.

Whatever Steve.

sixpak you just need to learn to be like me and ignore triple.... as you know he's on every forum and no matter what feels like chiming in. You could start a thread on growing corn and he'd chime in on how 42 has the best corn ever 4 miles from the track when they get a car count of 61.143 cars on a 71.2 degree night in november....

Re: Memorial day race at Magnolia OH - 05/08/09 05:13 PM

I'm planning on going. I've pretty much called Magnolia my home track since 96. There is a track 10 minutes from me but I would rather drive the hour it takes to get to Magnolia and race there.
Great bunch of people there and the traction is usually good. As someone else mentioned , it's a little narrow and the shutdown is a little rough and it can also be a bit dark when racing at night.
