This weekend in Indy is the opening of the track, and there will be a balloon race to celebrate the centenial of the track..Go to the IMS web site for times and schedule, but it should be a great week-end to be in town... Bunker Hill is about an hour and a half drive north of Indy on US 31

Not racing but the Indy Mopar Club is having our first show of the year, less than 10 minutes from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Spectators free. See our events page flyer for details. http://www.indymoparclub.com/upcomingimcevents.html

I took a set of heads once to Tim Davis whose shop was located on Gasoline Alley (the actual street) I thought that was kind of cool to see all of those racing businesses all on one street. A couple indy car shops and nothin but automotive places. Haven't been up there for a couple of years though.

Muncie,s Moser Race will be jam packed with cars. New owner has been doing great things there. Just scaled the car and i will be there Sat and maybe Sunday. Car is a red 68 Dart #80 s/p. I usually park with my buddy and his 69 red Mustang.

If your into NHRA stuff, head out to Brownsburg. Maybe over half of the Top Fuel and Funny car teams have shops out there. Also some of the Pro Stock bike teams are there. Some of the shops are open to the public.

THanks GUY's I think we will check out the car show & the Mosier race. I would like to check out the Funny Car & TF shops too.

Any area in Town I should Shy awayfrom for an overnight stay. I know we have a few places in my small town that seem to be a magnet for THUGS & such staying at....

Stay away from 38th street inside 465!!!!! It seems close to the track but not a good place to stay...the hotels downtown are cheap on hotwire.com and they are all good...

If you are staying in Indy overnight, get a hotel in Brownsburg...It is just minutes up I-74 from the Speedway and has several good choices at the exit as well as resturaunts.
If you are staying up near Bunker Hill, there are places in Kokomo to stay, and all of that area is good.

The race shops in Brownsburg are awsome. Easy to find, right off the interstate. Schumacher shop is HUGE as well as Force, Prudhomme, Bernstein, Cory Mac, Lucas, Vance & Hines and may others. I don't know who has the David Powers building now but it looked more like a casino than a race shop. Impact is also there as well and some Indy type, midgets and USAC. These are located only about 3 miles from the dragstrip.
