Block Raffle - BME 4.500" bore block

Posted By: Mike@440Source

Block Raffle - BME 4.500" bore block - 01/12/24 01:03 AM

I'm seriously thinking of raffling off my BME 4.500" bore block (still needs all machine work). Putting this out here to see if there is any interest.
Not sure where I'll host the raffle, but I'm thinking 200 spots, $100.00 per spot. Some of the proceeds are going toward a missing person search that I'm involved with. Whatever is left I’ll put toward another block.
edit: A friend is missing her son in Northeastern Nevada close to where I’m from. We’re organizing a big search effort to clear areas of the mountain range where he went missing.

Hemi or wedge?

Re: Block Raffle? - 01/12/24 02:55 AM

New block, no machine work done. Unfinished bores @4.490” and lifter bushings need to be sized, etc.
What are the rules for doing a raffle here? Must be in the “for sale” section?

I made this post a sticky , and wish you best of luck on finding the missing boy

Best place to list this is here , will get the most traffic here in the Race Forum

Guess I should add , This is Mike's from 440 Source Raffle ,
so Moparts is not involved in any way, other than letting him post the thread !

Re: Block Raffle/Fundraiser- BME 4.500" bore block - 01/17/24 09:50 PM

Ok, here we go. Verbiage corrected to fundraiser, since that’s what this is.
Rules:

1. Item being offered is a Bill Mitchell Products 4.500” bore aluminum RB Chrysler engine block, part number 088555. Item offered as-is from the manufacturer and requires final machining to set clearances, including lifter bores, cylinder bores, and piston-to-deck height. Block includes a hardware kit from BMP, which supplies screw-in core plugs, dowel pins, and oil restrictors.
2. Item being offered is personal property of the seller and is not affiliated with, nor offered by 440 Source, Inc. Item is intended for competition use without warranty, expressed or implied. End user of the item being offered acknowledges that safe and lawful use is his/her responsibility and holds seller and member(s) and managing partners of the Moparts bulletin board and its online community blameless in the event of an accident. Please understand what you are attempting to win as I’ve provided the part number and accurate description. No Returns, no exceptions.
3. Fundraiser is being held with permission of Moparts. This is not a retail sale. If you don’t like the item or the terms set forth, don’t buy in. It’s that simple.
4. Limitations, Shipping, and Duties: Item will be palletized. I can assist you with shipping arrangements anywhere in the Continental US. Alternatively, you may handle these arrangements on your own. Hawaii and Alaska residents, please arrange a shipping method. Australia, Canada, and residents of other territories outside the Continental US, please pick a US freight broker and provide contact information at the email address below. Customs / duties are the responsibility of the recipient. No, I will not falsify customs documents for you. No exceptions.
5. Available spots: 200 spots offered, $100.00 US per spot. You can buy 1, or you can buy as many as you want to. Draw will happen once all 200 spots have been spoken for. Cancellation and refund will happen if sufficient interest is lacking to cover the replacement cost of the item. Void where prohibited.

1st draw: Engine block
2nd draw: $750.00
3rd draw $250.00

6. IMPORTANT: Reply directly to this thread with the spot number you want, then email me at MikesBlueCollar@gmail.com with the spot number(s)you picked. Once I respond with confirmation, payment may be made using the following methods:

Venmo: MBarbarigos775
PayPal: @mbarbarigos
CashApp $MichaelBarbarigos775

A portion of fundraiser proceeds will be used to fund the upcoming search effort for Aiden Clune in April 2024. Thank you all for your support, and good luck.

- 45 Miles due east of Currie NV where Aiden went missing would put you on/near the border of Utah and the Ibapah tribal lands.
- Yes, he was running from something, whether real or imagined. He was suffering from a psychotic breakdown and paranoia.
- We know the terrain quite well, and it's still easy to get lost out there.
- RE: Suicide; We hope not as well. Seems unlikely he'd hurt himself intentionally given what is known. I pray for the day his mother doesn't have to endure any more questions like that one. This is hard on their family, and Aiden looks like he could be my son's fraternal twin, more so than his own brother.

I think the quarter you are tripping over to pick up a penny is that somebody is going to get the block for 100 bucks.
That is the allure of a raffle.
Everybody can do math. It’s for a good cause, and you aren’t being forced to participate.

Did you not read what the extra money is going to

"Some of the proceeds" going to missing persons search, remainder going towards a new block. I think it a valid point, did OP ever specify what amount was being donated? Technically any amount fits "some", but I'm sure others would be more willing to jump in if there was a stated amount since the total pot is defined to $20k.

Re: Block Raffle - BME 4.500" bore block - 02/03/24 11:00 PM

Thanks for your concern and the question; I felt that I answered sufficiently in a previous post, but to reiterate;
Any funds over my original investment in the block were going toward the search. In reality, just covering the cost of the block was my main concern and we're helping with the search regardless. That goal has been met, and there are 130 open spots remaining. Update on a separate post to follow.

Re: Block Raffle - BME 4.500" bore block - 02/03/24 11:48 PM

Ok kids, sorry for the delay on the update.
I've tried to make this easy for everyone to understand, but I am continually surprised by those who do not, or will not follow simple instructions.

1. There is a single point of contact for a reason. MikesBlueCollar@gmail.com
Not my work phone, not my work email, not Facebook Messenger, and not via carrier pigeon. Trying to track who I've responded to across multiple platforms leads to unnecessary delays (like this one). Sorry smirk

2. Spots paid for: 66

3. Spots pending pmt: 5

4. Removed for non-payment or
non-response over 7 days 15

5. Total open spots: 129

6. Tentative date for chip draw is Feb 17 and may be extended pending interest. If you want in for your chance to win this block, jump on it.
I'm not going to make everyone wait forever.

MIke I paid for a spot you have marked as open on 1/25/24? Maybe an oversight?
