Holley fast idle lever types? - 02/19/23 06:58 PM

1971 Holley r6189a 4150 on a Dodge 413

Main question is: the fast idle lever on my carb was 2-piece and had a spring (here the spring end is off, at right)

So, what is the spring's function?

Will the new, solid extended lever cause any change in the kickdown?

I also had to mod it for the screw to reach the cam

I need the TPS for a new trans

So, Holley tech replied that the spring loaded lever is normally for manual choke.
For whatever off reason they put it on the electric choke in 1971.

Makes Sense now. I know on the Aftermarket Carbs we have changed the Assembly of the years. That may be the issue here. the Spring was there to assist with the Return to Neutral of the Fast Idle Cam.
