Off to Book Racing Enterprises…….

Off to Book Racing Enterprises……. - 01/21/23 10:53 PM

I’ve always used Cubic (CFM) the past 10-15 years, and Patrick James before Dale, so I’m going to send this thing off to Book to see what he can do for me. Will be switching from VP Q16 to C23. Been so busy and just now finally getting around to sending this thing off. Need to finish my last 2 passes so I can get my license again……..with my local track suspected of closing its doors this year. Lol

……..And switching intakes also. My current intake is the Godfather of the new intakes Brett created.

Unrelated question: where did you find your hood ?
Buddy of mine needs something like that for his A-Barracuda drag car.

Nice! One of my super stock/super gas friends has been real happy with their Bob Book carbs.

If your local track closes, where is the next closest for you that you'd want to race at? Tuscon? Or would you haul up to Vegas?

I'm sure it'll workout. BRE stuff is nice.

Tucson is the closest if my local track closes. Although there are other events in the state (No Prep) stuff up North (Show Low 660 events), but I have zero interest in that or the Kingman Street Drags.

I had a carb set up by Bo Laws for gas, Q16 and C45. They did an interesting trick where they installed what they called an "upper jet". Basically they made the inlet to the booster a jet since it becomes a restriction when you are flowing a lot of fuel. So when I would switch from gas to Q16 or C45 I had to change the main jets, the intermediate jet and the upper jet. Once I changed everything over the carb was capable of flowing a lot more fuel. It will be interesting to see what Book does with your carb.

Andy,

It’s great you mention this. I’ve seen this. A good friend of mine has the same BLP carb setup for his motor. Book and I spoke over the phone, and he’ll get back to me once the carb arrives to further discuss things.

I sold that BLP carb to someone on this board but I don't recall who it was. It was a super cool carb. BLP spent a lot of time on it and they dyno tested it with multiple fuels. It was built for a magazine article.

I gotta ask why switch from Dale? I know he swamped and very busy. Just a two person shop he and his wife Flo.

Also that manifold from Brett is LEAPS and bounds better than the modified version.

Dale and I spoke. They are swamped, and I'd be way down on the list. This is not a carb-war issue. I'm just going to give Book a swing at it.
As for the modified manifold it was good at the time. So hopefully with the 420-2 I'll have nice results like Jay had with his.

Another off the topic, sort of question. The engine that I have for my new car has 2 Dominators with the BLP jets in them, all my other stuff has Holley jetting. It appears that their jetting might be a little more precise than the Holley stuff, what have you guys using the BLP stuff found? Just curious if I should convert them to Holley jets. Thanks, Jim.

Just curious what size carb is that and what rpm do you shift at with that modified manifold? We built a W9 bracket engine last year and were talked into using using a ported 4150 style manifold with a 950 carb, Disappointed with performance. Trying to decide between a BLP Ultra 4150 or open up the manifold for a 4500 dominator carb. 3275 lb foot brake bracket car
