I saw this car today at Mason-Dixon for the Stock/SS race. It ran 12.48. Car is unrestored/original. The owner's brother bought it new for the sole purpose of going racing. Car has 2 miles on the odometer. I've seen restored cars that were nowhere near as nice as this car. All the decals, paint, interior, etc are original from when the car was new. This year is the first time it's been out in years.

Re: N/SA Dodge - 11/07/22 05:26 PM

I'm wondering if that's a restored Stocker from years ago classified by the rules & HP at that time. I may be wrong, but I can't access the info at work.
I don't believe any 360-4 bbl would have a 1975 Coronet classified as slow as N/SA based on current rules & HP factor. I'll look it up when I get home unless somebody beats me to it.

really nice car either way.

My apologies, I guessed incorrectly! Factory 190HP/276HP NHRA factor & 4,172 race weight![size:17pt][/size]

What am I missing?

1975 Coronet Coupe 13.83 w/270HP, 13.65 w/ 276hp or 12.40 with the 305. Natural L or I?

Or is it being run as a Brougham? 14.14 w/276HP Natural M and add weight to make N? 14.50x276=4002? +170=4172.

I looked it up on clasracerinfo.com but you gotta sign up for access. It does make "N".

12:48 the car would not be competitive , There is an N/SA Chevy pickup that went 11:80's just last week.

Not necessarily competitive in individual class eliminations (heads-up) but slow cars have won some. There will almost always be someone faster. But as long as a vehicle can run the index or under, it is competitive in regular eliminations. In the meantime, try to stay away from faster same-class vehicles or add/subtract weight per rules to get into a different class.

It’s nothing but a bracket race till heads up

People who do it feel a little different about it. Stock and Super Stock are still performance based classes with a tight set of rule governing modifications.

Brackets is pretty much anything goes except for nitro, as long as it has the right safety gear.

Of course it is but it’s still a dial on the window, a $9000 motor against a $70,000 motor, performance means nothing, whoever cuts the light and runs close to their dial as long as you’re under your index (which are soft) But they HATE the bracket word! LMFAO.
