Intake question - 11/05/22 12:36 AM

I have a chance to pick up a Indy 4500-Max NIB in a parts trade. I currently have a Super Victor standard port. I have Indy EZ heads ,but I'm getting them opened to Max Wedge port, I would have to do them same for the Victor. What's the opinions on the Indy intake?

What is the part # on the Indy intake? 400-3,440-3 or 440-3X?
All the Max wedge Indy intakes I've seen are Max wedge port size from the plenums all the way to the head mating surfaces.
I don't think the Eddy Victor M.W. intakes are that way scope
More air=more power up

Get a picture of it.
You want be sure it’s not some variation of the mod man intake.

Personally, I’d just rework the super victor and be done with it.

The Super Victor is a very good intake. Get it port matched and you should be good to go.

It's a 440-3 so I took it in trade mostly because they are discontinued. I didn't realize the difference in the port between standard a MW until I saw them side by side.

Nice! I was afraid it was gonna be the -3X version, which is waaaay too big for your application.

I would not have traded for the 3X. I knew if it was 6.75 tall it was the 440-3. It's almost identical to the Victor. I think it was a good score.

I swapped out a -3 for a 3X and also swapped the carb from a 1050 dom (9375) to a Pro Systems 1200cfm. On a .720 (gross) lift 11.5:1, 4.50 bore 528, It picked up 3 tenths and 4 mph. I was using the 572-13 heads, I was more surprised than anyone shruggy cool

I'm only using the EZ heads and probably a .600 lift cam and a 1050 dommie.

I have the Indy -3 on my 512 with an 1150 Dominator. The heads are the Edelbrock 77929 ( I think) that were taken out to Max Wedge ports. The Indy intake was then port matched to the heads... wave

The only thing I don't like about Indy single plane manifolds, is how they run the port divider into the plenum. I have 2x of their manifolds, the first one I sent to get ported & flowed came back without the dividers, they were cut right back & it made a huge difference on how the engine performed, so I sent the other one in a few years later & it came back with the dividers gone too. I have a Super Victor manifold as well & it didn't have the dividers in the plenum & it flows within 8 cfm of the Indys that have had work. The Victor is slightly taller than the Indys.

I'll have to compare the two.
