430 inch SBC on the dyno

Circle track engine, not a drag racer so cam is smaller than what a drag car would use. Still pretty impressive power for SBC. Best pull was a little over 700 hp. Torque peak and power peak are fairly low which is what you want for a this type of racing. Would make more power with a bigger cam and a higher power band.

Andy - What sort of CR & fuel used? I saw cam duration noted on vid description, but was wondering what other details you know. Sounds healthy...

Yes, with those heads on that many cubes, there is still a huge amount of untapped power with cam/compression/intake changes. That particular combination is probably super reliable and low maintenance. It's amazing the cylinder head
development still taking place for the SBC. It goes in every direction too. There is stuff like these 15 degree heads and other 9 and 18 degree development, and at the same time there are guys like Chad Speier who have expanded the lungs of 23 degree stuff like crazy.

13.8 compression ratio and I think we were using C12.
The guy who owns this engine has another engine that is very similar. The other engine has titanium rods and a two piece intake manifold. It is the "lightweight" engine and it makes roughly 30 hp more at peak than the "heavy" engine.
We have a 428 inch SBC with Chapman 15 degree heads to run but the last engine is a drag race setup out of a Vega. That engine has a big drag race cam in it and it has a Dominator carb rather than a 4150. So I'm expecting 750 hp from the drag race 428.
