Member here who purchased the 514 inch long block from me a couple of years back. He has his GTX running pretty good. It weighs 3700 lbs and he is limited to a 9 inch tire with the stock wheel wells but it still hooks pretty well. Short video that he sent me: https://youtube.com/shorts/7lLE6i6TLrA

That's moving. I forget but how much HP did the 514 make on the dyno when you had it?

It made 900 hp on the best pulls but that was with a dry sump and Q race gas as well as a ported Wilson intake. Fran only bought the long block from me so he has different intake, carb, oil pan and headers.

Thanks Andy .... its been a while MOPARTS, but I'm usually on this forum 3x a week still learning from you all. This has been a fun learning experience and what a great engine to be working with, if i could afford it, I would send back to you for a refresh. LOL

Shes working pretty good as the MPH shows less power than the ET does. Signs of a good working combo...

This car in person is a very nice piece.

I think that might be because he has 4.30 gears and it is laying over in the lights since it is past the power peak. Just my guess. He is going to swap over to 3.90 gears to see what happens.

Any thoughts on this ... 3.90 gears vs 4.10 I have both sets ..

Nice car and good pass. Gotta love old heavy Mopar B-Bodies running fast. I'd go 4.10 if it was me.

I’m just curious about how many times a year do you race 1/4 mile. That would help me make up my mind. Beautiful car and fast too.

Fran I really don't think you would see much of a difference from 4.30 to 4.10s
Car is still amazing with a full interior and a 9 inch tire. It really shows how much you work to get this car where it's at. Let me know when you want to do the gear swap you know I'm in thumbs

Nice pass dude bow it gets faster every month.

Mines run 4.10 and 4.30. Very close in performance. With the 4.30 and 10.5wx31 it'll go thru about 7200-7300@148-150

My advice would be the 3.90 gears. I don't think you'll see enough difference with 4.10 gears to make it worth the time it takes to swap gears. Put the 3.90 gears in there and see what she does. I think it will pick up a little top end speed and the ET won't change much. It really depends on the torque converter. The 3.90 gears will loosen up the converter a touch which will change some things. It could make the car quicker or slower depending on how the chassis reacts. You might have to adjust the shocks or the tire pressure to keep it launching hard.

For reference we've just gone from 4:10's to 3:73's (Dana 60). So far we've lost 0.1, 1 mph in the 1/4 and 0.05 in the 60 (going off similar weather conditions). Stalls gone up 800rpm and we have 16% slip at the stripe shruggy

That will happen if you go too tall. It also happens if you go too deep. Really depends on the car as well as the converter.

Re: '67 GTX goes 9.56 @ 137 - 09/16/22 04:27 PM

I really like that car! punkrocka

I looked at a '67 GTX many years ago and the only reason I passed on it was I didn't think I could put enough tire under it to make it hook well on the street. This was well before readily available soft-compound DOT tires, and it would have definitely been raced more on the street than the track at that time. whistling

Fran, your GTX is hooking awesome! You have brought that car a long ways from the old days when you first got it into the 10's.

I figured that might be who did them. Our 275's are moving quite a bit on the wheels. We mark tire with a paint pen at the valvestem when new sets go on and it's crazy how much they move.

Looks like for a 28” tire(if that’s what he’s running) and 137-ish mph, along with the typical converter slip, 3.9’s seems right(7000-7200 trap rpm).

I agree, those EZ heads nose over once the engine gets past 7000 rpm.

Nice update Fran! I'd bet there is more MPH in it and a little more ET based on the incremetals. Do you have 330 and 660 and 1000ft ET/MPH?

Not sure if you have O2 data but that might help point to some gains, probably air directed into the carb. I think there's some MPH in there but not much more ET. So, as long as it's safe fuel over the run I'd almost leave things alone and enjoy. You have it running well.
