Stock Eliminator - New Cars

Stock Eliminator - New Cars - 09/01/22 11:15 PM

I'm sure I'm missing some obvious answer but what options does someone have to run a car that is not listed in the NHRA stock eliminator weight/hp breakdown sheet? If someone wanted to run a non-drag Pak Challenger or charger, would it fit/be permitted in an existent class?

What about a V6 charger? Gen 3 Hemi swapped 70s car (this one may be an obvious SOL but I keep thinking about the v8 rwd cobalts)

Sorry if these are dumb ? but the US Nationals had me curious.

I believe their GT class is for engines swapped into cars that didn't have the specific engine available, and also FWD cars that are converted to RWD. I'm not that interested in anything other than Stock and Super Stock or I'd look it up.

You can only run vehicles that are listed in the classification guide.

Here's my oversight "If you do not find a particular vehicle/engine combination listed in the Guide, it means specifications for that combination were never received from the manufacturer, and the vehicle is not eligible for competition in Stock or Super Stock.".

If the car/combination is not in the NHRA stock car classification guide it is not eligible to compete in stock eliminator. However, some of the engine swaps may be legal to compete in super stock GT classes. The best way to find what is and what is not is to call NHRA for clarification, BUT...if you are planning on building a GT class car, make sure you get that approval in writting, not that it'll hold up but at least you have some proof down the road. Last but not least, study the rules for those classes very carefully and over-look nothing...

Subscribe to ClassRacerInfo.com (it’s free) and you can get an idea of just how many SS/GT combinations there are. Dwight Sutherland has built a great tool for class racers. And of course for a stocker it has to be in the guide PERIOD.
