Ceramic bearings

Question about them. Are they just ball bearings or are tapered made. Do they run in a steel grove or is that ceramic too? I know they’re pricy but for a dedicated drag car chasing a number it might be worth it.

All of themI have used are ceramic ball bearings in a steel cage. Been using them for years and we have had some issues with pinion bearings...As for whether they are worth it or not that has something that has had mixed reviews from many. makes the car easier to push for sure but as for it showing in the slip, ehh...FWIW you can use a micro blue bearings which is also a very low drag bearing for much less money. We have gone to those for all the heavy load stuff for sure. At one point we had ceramics all over the car. Then they became much harder to get and since then the quality has not been the same. My understanding is the ceramic material is from overseas now.

Do the Dewco diff centers use ceramic bearing Al?

You can order them if you choose but IMO microblue is a better option.

Worth it? Depends on how much you are willing to pay for 1 MPH or 1 hundredth in a performance based class.

Microblues are SIGNIFICANTLY less money and pretty close in performance IMO.

What kind of lube, if any, is used with ceramics?

Cab thats actually a drop out 12 bolt center section. It goes in a 9" housing though. We channel our inner Comp racer as much as possible. Much less parasitic loss from the 12 bolt center but comes at a cost of weaker gears and not as many options ratio wise. In fact getting really hard to find pro gears these days. It also fits the Vettes tunnel which is quite small, not sure we could even fit a true 9" center in there without surgery. If anyone gets the chance to ever be at an NMCA or WCNA race we are at should check the car out. Most folks assume its some dumb Corvette guy with a scoop and chute on his 10 second Vette

They are sealed bearings, think Mopar "green" bearings. I had them in a few of my cars.

But as pointed out ceramics are not cheap for sure. And at least for us not sure you will saw anything on the slip, but it rolls so much easier has to be something. But never heard of or seen anyone do any real A-B-A testing to prove any real gains,be difficult for sure. Honesty most guys have enough drag everywhere else not sure they need to worry about them. I mean if you have a ceramic front wheel bearing and your front brakes drag whats the point. I can tell you in Comp and Pro Stock they are used a lot as well as some of the SS and Stock guys.

That's a FAT HEAVY Drag setup.

The Circle Track ones eliminate ring gear bolts and the carriers are "windowed" and "bridged". Those are horsepower, car weight rules and track built specific of course.
