Pushrod oiling

Looking to upgrade lifters from Comp to BAM. I was told BAM lifters need bushings. I run an Indy block with no bushings. I'm just trying to see what some of yall have done to upgrade. I currently run cup pushrods , do they make a cup with oil hole? Or do you got to convert to ball and ball and change adjusters

It has pushrod oiling feature but I blocked them off
just run the oil lines in the back previously

You can get ball/cup oil-through pushrods - quite common.

I have Manton make them for me for customers all the time
I use AMC solid roller lifters for pushrod oiling

What is the smallest hole in the cup you have ran.

Consider reading the post on rocker arm geometry before investing in cup type pushrods. There is a reason Jesel only uses ball and ball pushrods. I gather from B3 racings article it gets more critical as the performance level rises.

I don't have a bunch of lift in it. About .650 lift
I got the BAM lifters in yesterday. They look decent. I need to get it mocked up and check pushrod length. Get those ordered and see if it will work.
I'll probably be the only guy oiling both ways lmfao

I liked the way Manton treated me and they have a nice pushrod. you can order down to .030 orifice in the pushrod last i saw. What ever you are using for rockers may need fulcrum oiling, typically a pushrod oiling system has pathways thru the adjuster to oil here. .060 is plenty orifice for the lifter body in a bushing often less. I havent seen any BAM lifters but some other brands axle oil thru an edm'd orifice. (this may be the reason pressurized oiling is requested to the lifter body) I suppose you can oil the rockers conventionally including the pushrod cup area. The lifter doesnt HAVE TO send oil upwards.

Let us know how much different the lifter pushrod seat height is from the Comp lifters.
My notes say the Comp 892 (pushrod oiling, not 829) have a seat height of 1.91", and the BAM 1.93".
But I don't know if the companies measure it the same way. Comp defines seat height as top of a 5/16" ball in the pushrod seat.

I have Comp 892 lifters and this picture shows what I measured. And it agrees with Comp's definition.

I use indy black rockers. I restrict oil to those as well.

I'll measure them this weekend Jim. I'm moving a CNC and Bridgeport to my new garage this week so no time to mess with it till then .

I'd like a smaller hole then .030 but that might work.

Do the Indy rockers squirt oil towards the pushrod? If so, and the pushrods or adjusters aren't showing signs of heat or wear, why switch to pushrod oiling? Regardless of what you do, the rockers still need oil.

FWIW you can get away with pretty small restrictors especially using both oiling methods Id think. I have .029" at the lifters the last few engines with no ill affects.

I put small holes in setscrews I had tapped into the lifter galleys when I 1st built it. I wanted a little oil in there to help lkeep the Comp rollers lubricated. I'm going to run it like that as long as the lifters don't uncover .

Pretty common to use both on Hemis with street intentions these days. Nedbal recommends it in his book. I did it to my 572.
