Modern Street Hemi Shootout series - 01/15/22 04:35 AM

I'd never heard of this race series until about 20 minutes ago: http://www.hemirace.com

Very East Coast heavy on the schedule: http://hemirace.com/featured/2022-sched/

They were in the Houston area last fall and I went to it (could run my truck in the time trial sessions). It was pretty nice as there were a lot of vehicles, mainly Challengers and Chargers. Some pretty fast cars though not as fast as LS/Ford it seems for whatever reason. Some of the paint schemes were pretty wild too! Worth it to go once and run in the time trials.

There at Houston this weekend. They have a live feed which is for some reason delayed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4BtyePv68M

Doesn't look like the same series, but maybe it's an affiliated group. Regardless, looks like some of the same stuff going on from the brief description I read.

The two "official" races at VMP and MDIR are 2 to 2-1/2 hours from me and the Cecil County race that they list as an end-of-seaon "Battle of the Brands" is 2 hours away (I've been to all three tracks in the past).

I've been racing the Modern Street Hemi Shootout Series since 2018. It's a great series that has a solid core of participants. With the exception of the Outlaw and Heavyweight classes, which are heads up, there are a large assortment of index classes, that pretty much cover everyone's performance levels. It's .500 pro tree, Entry Fee pays for you to race two classes, Bracket Class and which ever Index class you choose to run. If you win the Bracket Class or which ever Index class you race, you get to participate in a King of the Hill race at the end of the day, which pays like $2000-2500 to the winner, over and above what whichever class you won pays. So, every race, there's a nice opportunity to win some good money. The owner Dan VanHorn, does a great job of obtaining sponsorship for the races and the payouts are good. There are also numerous different cash awards for things like best reaction time, best 60ft, etc...Give it a try. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Solid program with tons of BIG sponsorship and great payouts.
Along with MOPARS and absolutely the best group of racers around.

The VMP event is this weekend. It's just over 150 miles for me (go south 150 miles, turn right and go 3 miles to track). Weather forecast is starting to look better than it was a couple of days ago, so I'm optimistic.

How many time trials should I expect to be able to make? Is 2 the standard, or do they try to provide more? The conditions will be different (definitely warmer and a slightly higher elevation track) than what I've tested the 1320 in so far, so I don't know what it's gonna run.

The plan is to run the bracket race and the 12.50 Index. We can only get there for Saturday; the Friday T&T event doesn't fit my schedule.

Thx - Brad

Try leaving in 2nd gear to slow it down
