PCV vacuum source.

PCV vacuum source. - 07/27/21 02:01 AM

I sent Dom my BX4 main body to build me a carb using all BLP parts. I run a pcv valve and the BLP base plate he’s using has no provision for one. Should I put the port in my Super Sucker spacer or in the intake or will it matter?

Thanks.

You want it up front by the primaries. Place it in back at the secondary's and you might find cylinders near the back of the block running lean at idle. Although with a 4-hole idle circuit it may be a mute point....nevermind.

It needs to hook to the ack of the carb. Hooking to a spacer makes it just a vacuum leak. If you have two carbs it should be hooked to both of them. Drill the base plate out to 1/8 pipe and put a brass fitting in there. It’s easy to do.

Carb spacer works fine. I have the one on my roadrunner drilled for PCV and vacuum advance. That’s in a 2” 4500 to 4150 spacer. Works great.

I stopped using mine years ago, why add a diluted oil vapor to your intake charge......

I use one of those clear Fram fuel filters inline between the carb and PCV and it traps a lot of oil. I change it a few times a year. twocents

I ran a home made oil separator but still had residual in the intake runners......

I've always ran one as I don't run evac tubes. Plus it made 3 HP on the dyno with it hooked up. biggrin

I don't see any sign of oil in the carb or intake and there was none on the spacer.

Speaking of the spacer, it didn't line up very well with the intake opening. After talking to HVH I did a little grinding. Don't know if it'll help but I feel better. The gasket is matched to the intake.

That does look real clean but I'd prefer none of the controlled vacuum leak stuff just 2 breathers......

I tried a small (about 3" high) cyclonic separator and it collected only a few drops in a couple hundred street miles... so I removed it shruggy
