Exhaust system.... - 07/25/21 01:34 PM

I have 1 7/8" headers and full 3" exhaust system, both from TTI on my 512. I'm little curios howe much HP it can support....

Howe fast have you gays bin with your street car and a full 3" system...... Yes, all the way to your bumper.

Not too similar to your combo but we have been a best of 10.35@130 with our 3800lb '69RR, 2.1/8" TTI's, 4" collectors and only 2.1/2" pipes to the bumper...motor is a mild 10:1CR 589ci wedge, dyno'd@695hp, track hp with mechanical w/pump/alternator full exhaust, we lost approx 20hp

My old pump gas duster ran a set of Headman fender well A body headers with 2.0 primary pipes with 3.5 inch collectors going into a 3.0 inch system to the Magnaflow 14x7 oval muffs mounted behind the rear end, it went 9.993 at 134.8 MPH on Oregon pump swill with the air cleaner and exhaust system on using 91 octane Oregon pump swill boogie
It weighed 3450 lbs. with me in the car shruggy
I did remove the pipes and muffs from the collector back at our local 1/8 mile track and it pick up from 7.01 to 6.98 ET and .2 MPH, not worth taking it off twocents realcrazy shruggy

So your exhaust system don't hold you back, a real test up

If it`s me you mean?

It`s my street car that I take to a track once or twice a year. I don't know if I have enough power to go 6.9x in a 1/8 track. It weight 3860 lbs with me in and best is 7.19 and 98.3 MPH... 60 feet is typisch 1.65-70

Focus on making it 60 ft. better first wrench twocents.
.02 increase in the 60 will make it go .05 to .07 better in the 1/8 and 1/4 mile depending on your motor and shift points scope up

My home track has a lot of No Prep events ( Yes! it is crap) so there is no bite at all. I have order a set of DA shocks up front and 1" taller rear tires so I maybe slow it down a little in 60 feet. I guess I don't gona see a much diffrence in 60 feet, but I run out of ideas shruggy

Is my 98,3 MPH enough to go a 6,9x on a 1/8 track?

Re: Exhaust system.... - 07/27/21 09:24 AM

@3860 what your trying to achieve would look like this with a hook>

Power to Weight Ratio: 0.15 : 1 (HP per 1 Pound Weight)
60 Foot E.T. : 1.53 Seconds
1/8 Mile E.T. : 6.93 Seconds
1/8 Mile Trap Speed : 98.10 MPH
1/4 Mile E.T. : 10.98 Seconds

as said your 60ft needs a lot of work and with what looks to me like street tyres? it ain't happening, hp is there in the mph.

My Cuda in full "Street" trim, goes 9.89 at 134mph....I run Hooker headers 2.25 tubes to 3.5" collectors shrunk down to 3" exhaust and 3" flow masters....No x pipe....

60ft is a 1.33 so far....on DOT "tires"...

Take the mufflers and exhaust off and open it to 3.5" wide open....Same ET.

Re: Exhaust system.... - 07/27/21 05:52 PM

would there be any gain if the 3 1/2" collector size used around 18-20" of 3 1/2" pipe before necking down to 3" at the X or H pipe, then 3" the rest of the way ?
think collector extensions. shruggy

I guess a 60ft in 1.55 range is possible on a good / prep track. Tyres is now Hoosier QTP 28" tall. Yes! I have to work with 60ft if this should be true wrench

It seems that a full 3" exhaust is capable to support big motors and HP, so I don't have to worry about that.... grin

I think the muffler matters more than going to bigger than 3"...Personally, the best sounding and best performance mufflers I like are the Spintech ones with their oval exhaust. Get the best of both worlds...

That is surprising. Mine doesn't seem to like mufflers...atleast not much of one. Runs best w/ 4" race Bullets right off the collectors. My headers have 4" collectors though. Open headers runs about the same, but the 60 foot is slightly softer.

My H pipe system is really heavy though, so I'm sure part of the gain is from weight loss.
