Buying ethanol???

So if you live a long ways from an e-85 pump and want to run ethanol or some percentage ethanol fuel in your car where do you get it? Is there somewhere you can order it in barrels or those big square totes at a reasonable price? Everywhere I can find it is very expensive and defeats the purpose. If I drive 2 hours away and just buy e-85 from the pump is there a safe way to store a huge quantity of it so it don't absorb water before I use it?

Research ethanol fuel, racing ethanol, what ever you think will have the info you seek. We have it locally, so I don ' t have to store it, but I hear guys switch to straight gasoline on occasion to clear out old fuel.

You can get a drum deliverd to a gas station that sells it but $ for the drum is a lot but I would get 10 10gal jugs from summit and drive to fill them and it would be 25$ in gas to drive to get it each time.

Might be an oil company that distributed racing gas to service stations that sells it in drums. We are lucky that in our area E85 is available at the pump. We can also buy it in five gallon drums and larger from Bellman Oil in Bremen. We are less than thirty miles from them.

I just use one of my old Methanol drums and fill it up at a gas station that has it on the way home from the races. I run E85 in my Barracuda on the street and the nearest station is 12 miles away.

don't absorb water

1. when you use some, transfer the remainder to a container just barely large enough to be full.
2. use the old container, but insert an inflatable bladder to remove any air space.

You can just store it in an air tight container and be fine a LONG time....If you know some science geeks you can get a molecular sieve, attach it as a vent to the container and never have to worry about it...well, until you exhaust the sieve, then you would have to replace the molecular sieve material (but thats no biggie).

???....I have some fuel in a barrel (bout 15 ga's in a 55 barrel drum) thats at least 4 years old, use it once last year and the car seems to be running fine ,My ? is ,is there a way to test for moisture in the fuel or is there a visual indication? I mix my own fuel with one of the cheap testers so far no problems.
