Valve Spacing, piston relief location - 05/06/21 01:13 PM

The topic about Jesel 440-1 rockers and Indy 572-13 heads got me wondering about the valve angles, valve spacing, and location.
My internet searches produced little info, so tell me what you know.

Cyl Head ________Angle__Spacing__Exh____Int offset
Stock 440 _______15 deg
Indy 440-1 ______15 deg
Indy 572-13 _____13 deg
Koffels B1 original 15 deg
Koffels B1-MC ___15_deg

b1 and b1MC are both 15 deg, the spacing on the b1 is stock and the MC is spread (i believe) .400 total

Still looking for more information.
But FWIW, this is my rough measurement on the set of B1 Original heads I have.
These are not specs, just my best effort with the tools I have.

Cyl Head ________Angle__Spacing__Exh____Int offset
Koffels B1 original ??_deg __2.09 ___1.17 ____0.92

The valve centerline on B1,B1mc,572-13 and 600-13 are all moved to open on the cylinder centerline. So the valve notches are higher on the piston. The B1 mc is also spread to accept a 2.400 intake valve IIRC .060"

Are you saying the B1 heads have the valves moved "up" in my picture above? How much?
Is the 0.060" spacing change you listed moving each 0.030" toward the cylinder walls or some other combination such as moving the exhaust toward the cylinder wall (left) and the intake away (also moving left)?

I just received this email from Scott Koffel, responding to my email on valve reliefs.

It has been too long since we actually cut a set here. You are stock 15 degree but the notches are moved to open on cylinder centerline. If you call wiseco and ask for Vic Ellinger he should be able to answer those questions. Typ we have the notches .300 deep so if you are trying to renotch std 440 pistons won't work on most as head of piston not thick enough and top ring position too high on most std pistons that intake notch falls into top ring.
