First outing with new motor - 05/03/21 03:30 PM
Test and tuned Fri night
Went 10.77. Very healthy looking 6.78 at almost 101 in the 1/8. 1.44 60 foot
Car was missing badly all the way down the track. Got worse further down track i got. It was mineshaft air Fri night.
Then got hot over the weekend. Went from 800 feet to 4000 feet DA. Quite a swing..lol
Anyhow, either new wires, moving the rev limiter from 7k to 8k( wasnt going past 6500-6600 anyway) but you never know... and turned up fuel pressure 1/2 a pound to 7
Something fixed it, didn't have time to try one thing at a time on a race weekend
Anyhow, it did go 6.80 with a zero in much worse air.
Think this thing has at worst a low to mid 60 in the 1/4 next time i get it in good air. The above pass was literally right off the trailer with brand new mill.
Very happy for what it is. 565 gross lift flat tappet, heads peak at 272@550, eddies, weiand excellerator, and dinky 1 5/8 tube headers with muffs.
Had 7 or 8 gallons of fuel in the 15 gallon cell, weighed 3320 with my 322 behind the wheel on the US131 scales.

Re: First outing with new motor - 05/03/21 04:00 PM
Thanks Jeff. No, not bad at all. Got an issue with the pulley that bolts to the dampner that the alternator belt rides on..the bolts backing off.
Had to constantly keep checking them.
Put some lock washers on them, will see if it holds now. Never had an issue with that before

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. No doubt you will pick away at it, and it will go faster.

Very Nice, sounds like a great running streeter. A lil nitrous plate would really make you some $$$$ here and there.

Yes it might show rich now but your gonna have to zero in on the jetting.. thats a a big swing on the temp and
when it warms up some you jet up some

Jets were 76/84 850 race brawler.
Swapped to 80/88jets... gonna change them back...
Hi speed 33/33
Idle 73/73
Was considering swapping the idles to around 60.. seem big to me.... doesn't idle real cleanly.... just off idle there is sometimes just a bit of a stumble/ hesitation. Dont see it when i footbrake it from 2k though. Just at tip in. So wanted to try going down some to richen it up a bit. Is my thinking correct?

Fatten it up until it slows down in the 1/4 mile MPH, then lean it down carefully until it starts to slow down the MPH a little bit
I ended up finding out that the pre pump fuel filter being to fine(80 microns or smaller) can make the fuel pump unable to supply enough fuel no matter what I did

Re: First outing with new motor - 05/05/21 01:50 AM
I ran 74/82 in my 850 on my 408. Our combos are different, so we take that into account. Dom told me when your jetting is close at wide open throttle you don’t have to get you hands wet doing jet changes. Just change HS bleeds and your golden. I tried this last time at track and it works. Wide band was reading 12.7 thru traps using 28HS bleeds in a Dominator. I switched to 32’s and then seen 13.3 on wide band . Car went quicker and faster mph. It works.
