Aluminum rb block

Where is the best place to get the Indy Max block- wedge?
Looked at the Keith Black as well, seems quite a bit more money and was not sure on wedge blocks from them.
Don't know much about the Bill Mitchell blocks.

Any Advice guys?

Why do you want aluminum?

Hi Cab: Iron blocks are hard to come by and client wants to save some weight on the nose .
We have hp close to 800 on his stock block that he has been racing for over 20 years ( yep, over 20 years) .
I pray at every hit that this thing doesn't come apart under him.
So, he has been saving up for a block and figures he wants to go ahead and get one that will last for whatever power he wants to build as well as shedding a few lbs.

I have one of the Bill Mitchel aluminum wedge blocks for 10 years now, it worked out very well. You see somebody complain about almost every brand. Just measure up what ever block you buy and have a good machinist bring it to spec.

I went KB on my wedge. Todd Marsh was great to work with and is doing the build. When I bought the price between a KB and Indy was minimal. That being said getting a KB is ridiculously slow. You can get an Indy or Mitchell block faster.

Best is using an Indy block to build a 572 for a customer of mine right now. It took a few months to get the block so if you want one get your order in and then prepare to wait for a bit.

And he also sells the BMP. I picked mine up last week Friday 4/23. Several others on this board bought the BMP (and other blocks) from Todd also.

I personally see no reason to use an iron block, unless rules require it. I understand budget reasons, and using a stock block, but even then, it cost quite a bit to make that last in a 700+ hp deal.

Iron block seal the rings better, hence making more power
Pro Stock uses Compact Iron blocks, not aluminum

I'll take the weight loss over any possible horsepower gains from the iron block. Pro stock needs the weight on the nose (like any really fast car) and they obviously have a minimum weight to work with. There's no advantage to the aluminum block in that scenario...other than the ability to repair the aluminum block.
