Give Me your Thoughts on this block... - 02/17/21 03:32 AM

Disclaimer: I have no experience with sleeves.

Block: R3 tall deck, 48* Non-siamese.

Block is currently on 4.00 bore. This is for a big-inch W9 deal. 75% street 25% strip

Molnar 4.125/Callies 6.200/ Predator solid roller 279/289 @.050
T&D 1.5 yeild .710 both sides

Heads are Brett Miller W9 2.18/1.60

Desired bore is 4.125...but I can live with 4.100
I was sold this block and not disclosed it had sleeves in #5 and #6.

I have never dealt with sleeves before. My sonic testing tells me the sleeves are too thin for anything I want to do.

My question is..Can #5&6 sleeves be removed and can the block take a heavy cut to allow replacement sleeves that can meet my goal of 4.00-4.125 bore?

What questions should I be asking?

A larger sleeve can go in and I wouldn't sweat the fact it has sleeves in it. Speak to your machine shop and they will be able to advise.

Some of the Mopar Aussie Pro Stock engines that BRE have done, had 8 sleeves in them, along with a block fill.

what´s the wall thickness of the sleeves? Maybe the sonic testing does only show the sleeve thickness, and not what´s behind that?? M

This is correct. The sonic test will not go past the sleeve outer surface.
