Are you guys still watch Street Outlaws - 02/16/21 12:32 AM

If so I think Flips old El Comino gets totaled tonight. That car has been around for years but driven by someone else after Flips death years ago. The Oklahoma boys are back and the racing has been fast. The show ash says is on right after street Outlaws and those guys are flying

The LIST """ Oh my god that darn list. Go race other people , I mean "Come on Man " Pun intended . I hate to say it but yes I watch it every week. It's the only thing on TV that even resembles racing. That boy was lucky to walk away from that ElCamino wreck.

Re: Are you guys still watch Street Outlaws - 02/16/21 12:15 PM

That’s what happens when you are a cocky fool and you overdrive the car for NO REASON. That could have ended up much worse than it was, all because that block headed dolt didn’t want an “outsider” just getting on the “list”.

A driver knows that you live to race another day rather than do crap like that. And then spend thousands and thousands of dollars building a new car. Or worse yet, laying in a hospital planning a new car. Or worse yet, being 6 feet under and doing NOTHING.

That was plain idiotic.

I watch it religiously now that the 405 guys are back. They seem to do it because they love to do it and to me that is the best reason to do anything. I cannot stand JJ. From what I see he looks at street racing only as a way to make money. And that arm drop crap? I very rarely watched when he was on.

I watch b/c it's racing on TV. The OKC show is boring except for the wrecks...soooo tired of racing for that stupid list. They're all fast as he11, just depends on who punches the right keys on the computer that night.

I kinda liked the Memphis show until this last Fastest in America deal that was such a joke. It's most definitely a TV show and not a race...complete w/ a bunch of clowns. I'm ashamed to say that "Block" is from SC. puke

They now have the "Southeastern Street Outlaws" and Block isn't a part of it at all from what I've been told.

Re: Are you guys still watch Street Outlaws - 02/16/21 04:06 PM

Never watched any of it. Haven't had TV or sat for years. When I did, reality shows, like American Chopper and the other chopper shows, Boyd's, Monster Garage, Overhaul, etc, etc, just seemed like crap to me.

I have Flo Racing, Motormania, the divisionals on NHRATV. I don't have time to watch all the stuff I'm actually interested in.

Now if Bickel or RJ or someone had a show where they built a car over a period of weeks, I'd watch that, as long as it was legit and Jerry didn't cuss everyone out and throw chairs every week.

Shawn's (MurderNova) Youtube channel 187 Customs is pretty entertaining.

They work on all kinds of stuff from painting a K-5 Blazer for his wife to building a '55 Chevy for dragweek style events to building Donks. He also seems to give more information on the Nova's than I've seen elsewhere.

I hear some numbers ET mentioned on their cars that I can relate to for the 1/8 mile and wonder if they are real or B.S. confused shruggy
Running low 4.0 in the 1/8 mile, especially on the street, is hauling butt bow work
Any one know real numbers on them up their in Nebraska or do they time them or not?

Friend down the street has a pro mod Stratus 900 cu in 1800 hp Chevy, all motor, runs 4.17 in the eight. That tells how much hp those guys are making. He just got a B&J 3 speed with converter hookup thingy and new split dominators (not cut ones) should pick up a tenth or more just to be in the bottom 16, (they get money and first rd by) can you imagine that many cars that fast?

Re: Are you guys still watch Street Outlaws - 02/17/21 04:46 AM

Some of those Proline Hemi's and 481X engines thousands of horsepower apparently. I remember Justin Shearer saying his Pontiac engine made only about 2500 Hp, with the other guys making much more. Shearer is getting there with adding nitromethane to his fuel.

Haven't watched in years, jumped the shark. I preferred it 14+ years ago when that style of racing was true to form and all you got was DVD's and youtube vids after the fact, if that and not an overly edited TV show.

Most likely using devices like a Dragy to know their times. Shawn did some testing with the new Murder Nova that had been 4.0 s and commented how they were almost 3 tenths faster after they sorted it. As I recall the OG Murder has been 4 teens on a prepped track. Daddy Dave had also run some 4.0's in Goliath at TRP.

The show in the very beginning was great, mid 5 sec cars. Now the speeds are whats going to shut this show down, the cars are way too fast for an unsafe street with obstacles on the sides. Someone is about to get really hurt bad or killed. The faster speeds are whats going to ultimately end the show.

?? its NOT a track. Dwayne Mills would have scraped a wall at a track, on that highway he went through a ditch and into a field. and barrel rolled multiple times. Even though these streets are "closed" they still are unsafe and these guys are taking big risks. No one can tell me this is "safe" Lets be real IT IS DANGEROUS. Of course racing at a track is dangerous also, but this is escalating out of hand. Low 4 high 3 sec cars in those conditions leave very little room for error. If you notice all these wrecks are totalling the cars. I dont wish it on anyone, but sooner or later one of them is going to get hurt, and for what ? the fame of being on a show?? I have street raced before, but would never race a car that fast on any highway, too many obstacles on the sides of the road for cars to get into

Tracks don’t have curbs and if you look at Docs car it has “curb feelers” on his car as a joke. But it started after he hit the curb hard a couple of times. Luckily not hard enough to launch the car.

JJ is mellow compared to when he was 1st aired on SO.
Had to be scripted in order for him to get his own show.
I'm really shocked Brian Chucky Davis hasn't gotten a chance at a show yet.

Their trash talk is tame as he11 compared to the grudge scene around here. That's the single biggest reason I don't get involved w/ it. I like staying behind the scenes, wrenching on the cars, and only come out when it's go time.

Yeah...those are amazingly fast and well-built cars all right, but I think they've lost track of the meaning of "Street".

If you have to bring your car in a trailer and it can only drive 1/4 mile at a time, and doesn't have legal license plates and insurance, it's not a street car. They should just call it "Unprepped Track Outlaws" instead!

Anyone remember "Real Street Eliminator"? You had to make a 25 mile cruise (I think without refueling), shut it off and restart in the middle of the trip without assistance, be fully registered, plates, insurance... twocents

Larry Larson used to be on the show and has run no prep kings with his S10. That truck has run in the 5s if I remember right, ran low 6's in the 1/4 on drag week, and he won NHRA events with it too. Same with Tom Bailey and Lutz's Camaros. Shawn used to put street miles on the Murder Nova and attempted to take it on drag week once.

Youtube is full of no trailer type cash days races as well, 660 street posts a bunch of them.

I don't think the "crow "has been in the 3s yet, close low 4s some where around 4.20s , The "Crowmod" went in tot the 3s

On the Cash days show they are running now in Nebraska , the lowest time on that Highway was a 4.40 by Ryan Martin , AXEman was in the low 4.40s also along with His old car(AKA JJ's new Nova)

Murder Nova has been 3.89 at Bradenton in FL ,

No, actually I didn't, but apparently you missed mine. These are drag cars on the street, nothing more, nothing less. The only thing street is the surface they are racing on......sometime.

Larry Larson is on the cash days show right after street Outlaws. They banned his truck on the no prep series so he’s racing a Cadillac now

To me, the baddest cars on the planet are the ones that do RMRW and Hot Rod's Drag Week. Anyone can throw money at a car and make it fast (look at Doc). To survive 1200 miles and 5 tracks in a week is very impressive! I love spectating at these events.

Doug Cook of Motion Raceworks has one of the most impressive cars to me. Ultra clean '69 Nova on 275's and leafsprings that ran 7's all week and never missed a beat. It recently ran a 7.38 at Bradenton! If you didn't notice the full funny car cage in it, you would swear it was a very clean 12 second car.

Some people still don't get that the term "street car" to THESE RACERS means NOTHING about street legality. It's all about where you race or the surface you race on.

Drag Week is megabucks too for the fast classes. Even in some of the slower classes the guys are running megabuck Goodwin engines.

Anyone remember "Real Street Eliminator"? You had to make a 25 mile cruise (I think without refueling), shut it off and restart in the middle of the trip without assistance, be fully registered, plates, insurance... twocents

They are not claiming them to be street cars.

Oooohhhh... thanks! I hadn't noticed that!
Way to miss the point rolleyes

No, actually I didn't, but apparently you missed mine. These are drag cars on the street, nothing more, nothing less. The only thing street is the surface they are racing on......sometime.
Exactly. They say that at beginning of every show.

It's entertainment, and I love it. I like JJ Da Boss.. I think he adds a different factor to the ENTERTAINMENT.

I like it a lot , JJ is full of S___T but I like him, I REALLY like the show Boosted is putting on, great format

Re: Are you guys still watch Street Outlaws - 02/27/21 01:15 PM

I agree. JJ and his crew are the entertainment. The street surface becomes the equalizer. It's all about the hustle. Even he gets out hustled at times. His female drivers and crew bring it to a new level. You can't deny their skills.Sometimes on Monday nights my wife will ask "aren't you going to watch your show". She doesn't think it's just stupid guy stuff anymore, after watching JJ's girls drive. She is excited about my race car project nearing completion and it was a plus to take her to Bradenton to watch the Heads Up, index racing. It's great when your wife is in your corner on your hobbies! Re: Are you guys still watch Street Outlaws - 02/27/21 03:11 PM

I'll say it again, the 405 seems to be racing because they love racing, JJ seems to be racing to make money. For me that takes a lot of the enjoyment out of it. But I will agree that his wife can drive. And very well. up

It would be interesting to see her versus Lizzy Musi.

I watched it when it first came on TV. "street race" with portable lights set up on the sides of the road. Yea OK. I don't want to watch Chebys either, If you happen to see a mopar the idiot put a Cheby motor in it. realcrazy

Love the show but hate the commentators. Its like they think we are all stupid and blind and can't see what is going on. When in fact they don't have a clue what is going on.

The "idiot" said if anyone felt like giving him enough to make a Hemi competitive with the Chevys of the time, feel free to step up. He couldn't afford it when the show started. It has a Hemi now. But so do a lot of the fast cars. Birdman, Megladon, Kamikaze(before it went for a ride), Daddy Dave now. At these power levels, I'd venture a guess that there is nothing "Mopar" or "Chevy" that came off the factory shelves on these cars. shruggy

Exactly. It’s a show about high horsepower cars and having the ability to use how much horsepower at a given spot. I’m loving the Race Days program after the regular street Outlaws show. And I love the no prep series too

Not really sure who you are talking about but JJ is using a different power adder.

I was referring to this quote which I assume is aimed at the only Mopar in the SO crew. But maybe Im incorrect. As for JJ his new car is it is Larry Roach's old car.

So Joe going to finally get a Mopar Engine in his Mopar ?? He seems to be a good guy but he either needs to go with a Cheby or a Mopar not both...

Joe told me about 4 or 5 years ago (when they were at Darlington) that his goal has always been to put a hemi in it, but didn't have the funds. He told me that the previous owner raced the car w/ a hemi and entered a race that didn't allow wheelie bars, so they took them off. He did a big wheelstand and crunched the frontend real bad. They removed the drivetrain and that's when Joe (Dominator) bought it. He replaced the entire frontend and put it together w/ the BBC he had.
He does actually like Mopars. He talked w/ me and looked over my car for quite a while that night. Super nice guy.

Re: Are you guys still watch Street Outlaws - 03/16/21 12:40 AM

There has to be some type of payout(race/TV/?) that drives these guys to do this. Its no longer a tune it at the track and most likely win. Too many cars showing up that have new technology to race and win. Its like the Mopar racers scenario, 4 Mopars, 5 Fords and 250 GM's all at the same race. The numbers are just not in your favor. I gave this type of racing very serious consideration a few years ago. , I'd be on the road for 30 weeks. Full toterhome and trailer combo plus the race car , back up parts and full time mechanic and tuner. I didn't make the pay grade. Its definitely exciting racing, especially without the TV instituted drama. As long as the local tracks remain open and gas doesn't hit $5.00/gal, I'll do about 15-20 races this season and watch the big boys do what they do. Its definitely so much better than watching nhra on fox.
