Rear shock adjustment with new Slicks - 01/25/21 05:12 PM

Does anyone change the rear shock settings when you put new slicks on?
Seems 1st few passes, car spins with new bias slicks.

Nope, we never do. We usually write off the first run, generally find it takes 2 or 3 passes for the sllcks to "bed in". Most manufacturers say a big burn out to get rid of the release agents etc then you are good to go.

None yet, 4 second burn out or until I see smoke and run it.
I have tried a little burn out and they spun on the first run, next run longer burn out and they hooked up

where are you racing this time of year??
You just got new shocks right?? Did you make any passes with your old tires?? IF you bought a different tire or changed tire PSI, then maybe you might need to try a tighter or looser extension. Other than that it may just be the 2-3 first runs they may spin until as mentioned they are "scuffed in"

Nope never have. First pass gets a huge burnout and it does what it does. I have found by pass three they have settled in and the 60's are where they should be. I just put new tires on this fall. Fisr burout was huge and netted me a 1.058 60', pass three was 1.029 as were the next few before it got put in the box.

That's what I'm trying to avoid.
Always did it the same way.
Waste 2 passes and then it's time to dial in and you lost the race due to a wrong dial in.

Trying to avoid this. New slicks are on.
New shocks aren't on yet.
I was thinking a few less clicks on rebound might help for the 1st 2 passes.
Just a thought.

You could always do a burnout or two on the driveway or a couple of test hits somewhere before you get to the track up

My 60s are a lot slower (1.26) but the same result. After the third pass, within .002. 10.5x33x15 Hoosiers
