426 Hemi Chrome Valve Covers - 11/23/20 02:48 PM

Who sells the best stamped chrome valve cover for the 426 Hemi? All I hear is the Chinese junk floating around is thin garbage that everyone hates. There must be some good ones sold somewhere. May consider some chrome or polished finned cast model. Want the old school look in a valve cover. Someone got something laying around. Talked to a chrome plating company a few years ago and they want $400 to re-plate an original set. Thanks

RBRE sells a set that will clear most aftermarket springs. OEM ones will not.

These things are expensive! Stage V are the good ones.

Arruzza used to sell some that work. I heard he's back. The last set I got off ebay from that guy in New York didn't fit at all and he won't exchange them or return my messages. So that money is gone.

What diameter springs are you guys having issues with? Mine came with chrome covers and 1.55 diameter springs with no clearance issues. (I'm running 1.4 now)

Whatever the standard is....I don't know, but the last set of OEM covers we had wore out right where the springs rubbed thru. And my bad, RBRE does not seem to list the stamped chrome ones anymore....

I have a pair on the wall in chrome and all the heated & beated outward dents to clear. The chrome will crack some with this clearancing method.I used JB weld on the inside of the covers ti fill the cracks. Use ALOT of heat!!

I'm still curious what diameter spring you guys are using that has this problem.

I thought 1.55 was big, is there something actually bigger than this? Or, is it a clearance problem because of longer valves or rocker arms?

The rockers are meaty and the additional lift makes the rocker hit the cover.

So the rocker adjuster is what's hitting? The valve side should gain clearance with more lift, no?

I bought shorter adjusters for mine so only one thread or so above the lock nut.

I installed the covers, spun the hemi over then removed the covers to see the witness marks. Heat and a ballpeen hammer!

The plug tubes aren't really long enough for that. Just need to buy a set from Arruzza that work.

Mancini Racing sells valve covers spacers that are .188 thick for anybody that needs them.
