Cold lash for comp hemi solid flat tappet? - 11/10/20 06:29 PM

Hello.

I was wondering what would be safe to run as cold valve lash for the following cam?

Comp only gives hot lash numbers and they suggest .018" for this cam on both lobes HOT.

SN#: J 3783-15
24-000-5
CRH 6583/6585 S 112+4
247/255 @ 50 112 lobe sep angle 108 centerline, hot lash is .018

HOW SHOULD I SET THE LASH COLD??? HOW TIGHTER???

0.018" SEEMS PRETTY TIGHT ALREADY SPECIALLY WHEN COMPARED WITH THE OLD MP GRINDS WHICH ALWAYS CALL FOR VERY LOOSE LASH SETTINGS.....

if you have aluminum heads the general rule is .006 tighter when cold.

iagree up
Start it up and let it warm up so it is at least as hot as 180F and then quickly check one side to see how much it loosens up warm and go from there scope up
I've had some motors that works well on and other that it didn't shruggy
Hemiroid motors have their own quirks and rules that don't always follow the rest of the pack shruggy
I have always tighten the lash up from .004 to .012 on all the old loose lash cams like Direct Connection, Racer Brown, Isky, Clay Smith and many other company use to sell up I use the lash for tuning, test, test and test some more up
