Small block intake..M-1 or Torquer? - 11/01/20 05:25 AM

I have an M-1 intake ported to match my W-2 heads on my 388 oval track engine. I have a 2” four hole spacer. What kind of power would a Torquer make compared to the M-1.

This is a rebuild I'm doing... dirt late model... 388 ci... 14-1 on alky... 850 carb... locked dizzy... 1 3/4 long tube headers... ported W-2 heads... Jones Cam flat tappet solid lifter.

In it’s original livery with a modest Purple Shaft cam and 750 Holley it did 575hp on a stingey dyno.

I would look at using the Eddy W2 Victor intake or the Mopar brand, same intake with no eddy I.D on them, for your deal, if your heads still have the oval intake ports up scope

Still has the oval ports.

I have heard that flow may increase a bit over 300 cfm intake if you square off the intakes. Mine flow 294@.600. I doubt that I will mess with the porting right now.

I'lll check out the Victor intake.

I agree with Cab , years ago we did a dyno test on my W2 head motor with an out of the box Victor W2 over my Strip Dominator which was gasket matched , the Victor was 12-15 hp better . The Indy 360-1 intake is also very good.

I'm also running an HVH 2" carb spacer...

I'd imagine that the Torker will hurt power, the Victor Jnr or the Indy would be what I would be looking at.

On my W2 motor, the Indy was the winner, but I'm drag racing not oval. I did try a Batten ported M-1 with a Wilson Manifold tapered spacer and got the same results as the Indy. ET and MPH was identical with both set-ups. I also tried both Holley Street and Strip Dominator intakes. They were OK, but not close to the Indy or my ported M-1. My motor looks to be pretty similar to yours, but not the compression ratio
