New best, sneakin up on it! - 09/27/20 08:02 AM

BIR went 1/8th mile for the weekend due to weather/cold track. Best of 5.603 with a 1.265 60 ft. Mph was off at 122. Wierd, as there was no head wind and i clocked 124 mph on another pass. Pic is of a full pass on friday. DA on the 5.60 was 3195. Ugly for fall.

Re: New best, sneakin up on it! Update! - 09/27/20 11:37 PM

First round on saturday i hit the brakes hard and got a bad wobble after locking up the front brakes. I started looking through the front suspension and found a few things. A slightly loose upper ball joint on the passenger side, both outer tierod ends slightly worn, and for it to wobble like it did there is more wear hidden i am sure. I have to think this is related to the eratic acceleration graph from about 500 feet to 1000 feet.

Good job. What's your target you'd like to see.

Don, trying to get it to go 8.60s. That may be a stretch, but i am hoping the worn front end was causing the erratic acceleration from about 500 to 1000 feet. That cold be worth .05 or a bit more? Good air is rare hear. Anything below 2000 DA is considered a good day!

Very nice Greg! I'd kill for that 60'! I went 5.60 at 126.5 mph w/ a 1.31 sixty foot last year...been trying to get back to a 1/4 mile track ever since, lol.

“In theory”, you’ll need to be sitting on the starting line in good enough air to be making very close to 900 uncorrected HP for your weight of a nominal 3000lbs.
And then........ have the car cooperate and do all the right things.

@3000lbs, the Moroso chart shows it would take an additional 70hp to go from 8.86(825hp)to 8.65(895hp).

Not yet. Weathet and worn parts shut me down after only a few runs. I did run a 5.603 with a 1.265 60 ft at 3194 da though. I was running a screen only and scoop, no hood.

So this is whats up. Best run was an 1/8th mile, 5.603 with a 1.265 60 ft. Since it was heavy overcast and cold, i assume the track surface was a bit cold. DA was 3194. A spring outing to a lower elevation track like Rock falls (800 ft;bir 1210) should find some 1600 ft DA or better.i hope to get vacuum up from 4 inch to 10 or 12. Will post a pick of the acceleration graph that shows a problem, maybe a front end wobble. The 1/2 shift also shows a large dip which wasn't there in seasons past. Look at the sag in acceleration from about 5 sec to 8 sec.
First graph is of a previous event, shows no dip on the shift but shows erratic acceleration

You are running alky, right?
I doubt the ET numbers are going to move around much, especially compared to gas, even with some DA change

400 to 450 ft da change seems to equal .01 for me. Gas is about 250.

So hear is my hoped for gains;
DA of 1600 or better ,,,,,,,,. .04
Fix front end wobble,,,..... .03?
1/2 shift fix,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.03?
Better 60 ft ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.01?
Tuning?,,,,,,,,,,,?.02?
Maybe .13 total which would produce an 8.72. I'd take that.
Oh, forgot porky tear needs to drop 50 lbs- gauranteed .04! There would be my 8.6-
