Prostock - 07/05/20 11:17 AM

Hi everyone I wanted to say hello its been awhile. I know most of you have given up on me and the hemi engine but I wanted to give some good news. I have made some unbelievable gains over the past 4 months. I think to put the hemi back on top in prostock. So keep a eye on us in indy i think we will surprise everyone.

I stand corrected ..., CF .....

But when I was making some very select PS body parts way back some moons ago ....my PS hood weighed less than Don Ness’ part .... that was supposedly CF ..... those BIG OEM Camaro and Firebird pieces ....

Re: Prostock - 07/12/20 03:03 AM

We got lucky today and got in. Ran OK in Q1 but we are not running good as we should. I think it has to do with the changes we have made to the pistons to gain power but the timing that we have run in the past isn't working. Its great to have another crack at it tomorrow. I went the save way in Q2 and that was ugly tomorrow I'm going to go fast or burn some pistons lol.

Re: Prostock - 07/14/20 03:21 PM

We had a decent showing this weekend I think. The motor was probably hurt in Q2 on Saturday and that's why we slowed up. Jason was just pulling away from me at half track so I pushed the clutch in. The gains that we have found on a Dyno definitely showed up in q1. The oil pressure was low on the dyno before we left and at the track we only had 33 pounds on the chip and 42 pounds at the strip. We just ran out of time to take the motor back of part and find out what the problem was before we had to leave. .I don't think we have any major damage so we should be able to fix it pretty easily.
We should be able to get out and test before we race in Topeka to figure out what ratios the new engine combination likes. What I think is going on is that the motor is so much better above 10,000 I don't have to run as much gear in second third and fourth. Which is a good thing because then the mph will probably come up another one to one and a half at the finish line
By the time we race again the back up motor should beto.ust as good as the motor we ran on Saturday we're just waiting on some new Parts.
We also received a new Hogan's manifold just before we pulled out for Indy that we are excited to see what that's worth on the dyno and also try it when we go testing.
I know you always hear how you could have ran faster but I guarantee we could have easily gone 6.66 in q1 and that is very competitive compared to the fastest car. we have turned the corner that I will prove that the Mopar is just as good at the Chevy as we don't invest a quarter of the amount of R&D money that they have.
Another exciting part of this whole deal is. The car is actually is going down the race track straight as an arrow and I don't have to drive it all over the racetrack.

Re: Prostock Interview - 08/01/20 03:56 AM

We had a great day today. I went to another teams dyno to test. I'm lucky to be able to do that just to compare there power to mine and we killed it. We were a tiny bit down at 9000 but from 9200 and up we have power to run with the best. I think the problem at 9000 is valve spring issue im pretty sure I can fix that with a .030 shim. Its funny when ever you got something going on around 9000 it always seems to be valve springs.
Posted By: 340Cuda

Re: Prostock Interview - 08/01/20 02:15 PM

Great news!

I wonder if your valve spring or cam vendor could give you some spintron time to see what is going on at 9,000 rpm.

Good Luck at Indy-3

Alan, have you talked to Billy Godbolt at Comp Cams about valve springs? He seems to be the go to guy on that subject.

Alan,
When you’re testing on the dyno..... what’s the rpm range of the pull, and what rate are you using?

Most of the time 8600 to 10200. There are times I'll run it from 8600 the 10700 but not a lot of we don't like to tear up parts. 600 RPMs per second is the rate
