Race gas concentrate

Race gas concentrate - 07/02/20 01:09 PM

I know this has probably been discussed a thousand times, but does this stuff actually work? Race gas ultra claims one can plus 4 gallons of 89 make 110. Not that I would want to race with it, but maybe for tooling around town.. Most opinions ive read are from people who've never actually used it. Any real world experiences?? Thanks

I bought some stuff from Summit before doing the math...well it would have been just as cheap to buy the real thing. If you have a local airport you can by low-lead 100 w/o ethanol That is what I plan on doing.

I've looked into it, but have never actually used it. My race engines are 10.5-11:1. They don't necessary need race fuel, but with the crappy pump gas I have issues on hot days with pure pump gas boiling. So I end up mixing pump/race gas to help bring the boiling point up so I don't have issues. It's cheaper for me to buy race gas than it is to buy the concentrate.

HEMI Joel used stuff from Klotz while we were on Drag Week in 2018. It was easier to carry 2 gallons of this, than multiple jugs of race gas for the drives. It seemed to work well. No real signs or detonation, but then again, he was easy on the throttle while driving down the road. It was just insurance, since the 392 has 13:1+ compression. The stuff was very toxic. You don't dare get it on your skin, and we had to use a metal mixing cup, after the first use, as the stuff melted the plastic cup we first had.

I tried to buy the av gas and its now covered by federal law since 9-11. All airports must account for all gas dispensed. My friend has 2 planes at a small airport. No go on the gas.

I ordered up a can of Race gas ultra from summit. Its like 35 bucks a can and (they say) you mix it with 4 gallons of pump to make 112. I'll let you know how it works. For me, its not about saving money, its about availability. If the concentrate works, it will just be nice to have easy access to fuel to cruise around on the street without any detonation issues. Ill put the real stuff in at the track.

we have a few small airports here, all you need is a tail number of a plane and you are G2G.

A few years back I used Klotz Race Gas Concentrate. made my car smell like cats pee. Use Aviation fuel now, much nicer smell.
