1000 hp means you need about $50,000 in your checkbook since that is what it will cost to build the engine and the car to handle it. So if you have $50,000 in the check book then get started spending it. I'm sure it is possible to build a 1000 hp Mopar SB but there might only be one or two of them that have ever existed so it isn't exactly something common. Gen 3 Hemi with supercharger or turbo should be able to hit the 1000 hp mark and stay together so that is probably a more likely target. But honestly, I think you're going to have a really tough time building what you say you want.

Are you wanting to run a power adder?

Normally aspirated, a big inch R3/W8 or W9 combo combo to make that kind of power is probably going to set you back around $35K (All new parts etc)

Brett Miller has done a few, Shiloh Davies is running such a combo now as well. Finding a decent block would be the only issue.

I am sure it's possible with the Gen III platform, NA, BES seems to be the only place I can think of that has given them a push NA

The gen III/LS stuff is all the rage, but you can do it with a small block. I doubt you will find a block, unless you already have it. I’d avoid buying a used block unless you can sonic test it and measure it up before you buy. And whatever block you buy, don’t expect it to be ready to run. They ALL need machine work.

Look into a Ritter block. They may not be perfect out of the box, but none of them are. Make sure you get it with 48 degree lifter bank angle. The 59 degree stuff is a PITA.

FWIW, a turbo makes power differently than say a roots blower. The ProCharger is very similar to a turbo, so they are inherently easier on parts. I know the LS is weak at the number 3 main bearing and the gen III has its issues as well. None of this stuff is perfect.

As a long time small block guy I would go Gen III. You can make lots of power with stock heads and valvetrain.

Go over to the Gen III section here and look for the Jeep that makes 750 to the tires with a stock 5.7L with a turbo on it.

iagree The initial buy in would be cheaper with the new Hemi too. A good complete core engine will be cheaper than a new Ritter block.

Good place to start is Ritter-Racing on here for a look at what an +800hp small block would run you. He is very reasonable price wise.....One of our guys is building one and is going from a W2 to W9.....Should be faster than anything I own when he is done....

And anything that went 11.20's is not going to hold up....front suspension, rear suspension, axle, fuel system, gauges, etc...All of that will need updating...let alone the cage and safety equipment..

JOSH KING, he has a real street car, very driveable. Makes OVER 1000 to the rear wheels. Its a genIII hemi with turbos. Look him up on facebook. or on here JOSHKING440 ?
But be prepared, its not cheap

I'd check out the Gen III forum on here, I'd be inclined to go the Gen III route if it were me.

Re: Engine help - 07/02/20 12:38 AM

Take my post as friendly advice. As mentioned 1,000 HP is really expensive, and maybe not the most reliable, or safe combination for a street toy. Trying to drive that much HP on the street can get a little scary sometimes when you cut it loose.
A gen III Hemi done right would make your car valuable, and while maybe you will never sell it, some day somebody will. Plus it will be a dependable balanced combination.
I have been playing with Mopars since 1972, and I have never had a race or street car with 1,000 HP. My current street car is a 410 based on a 360 in a 69 cuda with a procharger, 4 speed, and electronic fuel injection, the engine makes around 600HP on pump gas, and I have almost lost it several times on the street, it will break the tires loose easy at 30 to 40 mph in 3rg gear, just by letting it build a little boost. I have a race car that runs in the 9's and it has 772HP and I am still tuning the suspension to get it to hook reliably. The Cuda has super stock springs, adjustable shocks, and as big a tire as I can stuff under a A body Cuda, without cutting it up. I am seriously thinking about taking the procharger off. As a teenager I had a 70 dodge dart 340 4 speed, and would like to just be able to just run through the gears, hear a tire chirp with each shift, and not be worried about running off in the ditch. My old dart ran 8.75 in the 1/8 mile, and seldom lost a street race.
Maybe I am just getting old but a buddy of mine once had painted on his dash, " A fast ride in fine fashion" That is kind of what my attitude anymore is to fast cars, no need to scare yourself to death every time you hit the throttle.

i don't see making 1000 hp with a procharger being all that tough.especially if you can use e85,can't you buy demon motors now for what 18k and due some more tunning

Jeez for this kind of money I'd be looking at a real Hemi. Nothing cooler and will certainly make enough power to kill you with a smile on your face.

Re: Engine help - 07/02/20 03:19 PM

With boost the motor you have now will make close to 1000. No reason the stock front suspension wont work. Cal Tracks, trans and axle of your choice. Better block and run it. We make over 800 on stock 360 cast crank and block. Using a 76mm turbo .550" hyd roller cam exhaust manifolds and Eddy heads. Plenty of naysayers but a pretty stock 727 and a Dana might get it done. I've had very good success running 900 through a 727. Know plenty of others as well.
