Video of Mopars drag racing in Iceland - 06/24/20 10:07 AM

Hi folks, the video clip below shows competition in a street class last weekend. Three Mopars battled it out for the win. The 360 pick up won and my Charger was second. We were running around 11.50-11.70. The pick up and the Charger put a Hellcat to shame in that race.

This is a full 1/4 mile track. It was built by a bunch of young men in 1978 who formed a voluntary car club to build it. It is still owned and operated by that club. It is located in a lava field outside the town of Hafnarfjörður in SW Iceland. Recently a circle track was added to the facilities and an off road 4x4 hill climbing area too so it is evolving into a motorsports park. it looks like, to me, you need to work on the rear suspension, especially on leaving the line and the first gear change. I'm thinking a stiffer extending rear shock, especially on the drivers side, may make the car faster in the 60 ft. and not move around as much on the first gear change twocents scope up
Your big old red Charger is working well up I have a friend who is addicted to 1966 and 1967 Chargers, he has two of them, both stick shifts with small tires realcrazy shruggy He really likes them up

Thanks for your suggestion Cab. The Charger has a stock suspension with the original leafs (she came with the heavy duty trailer towing package), I clamped the front segment of the leaves and have adjustable Koni´s in the rear. My thought is that there were two possibilities for this side movement: To low pressure (18 psi) in the 20 year old drag radials and/or the rim was too narrow (7") for that 10" tire. I have corrected that for a race coming up this weekend.
