Wow! When that big Hemi starts breathing it eats up the race track in a hurry.

Re: Congratulations to Dave Dudek - 06/19/20 08:15 PM

Sweet!

I thought about going to watch the FAST guys yesterday and today at Martin but, the Fiancé didn't seem too enthused so; the time slipped by and we just didn't go.

Love watching those cars.

Re: Congratulations to Dave Dudek - 06/20/20 01:27 PM

Runs about the same MPH as my small block.

I just need a turbo and 20+ psi of boost to keep up...lol

How a guy can hook a .900 lift roller cammed hemi well enough to go 1.50 on a bicycle tire to me is really saying something

It would be fun to see what it would do with a 10.5 slick. Awesome car and driver.

If he’s hooking good it would go slower.

I'd be willing to bet it'd go better than 1.58 60'. What would be an average 60' for a heavy 9.90 car?

Re: Congratulations to Dave Dudek - 06/20/20 06:30 PM

The Faster of the FAST cars are usually carrying a fair amount of weight in the trunk.

If they had better tires......... they could take the weight out.

With that mile per hour, the right tires, and everything optimized, this would be his increments:

60 Foot 1.30
330 Foot 3.77
660 Foot 5.92
660 MPH 114.80
1000 Foot 7.79
1/4 Mile ET 9.38
1/4 Mile MPH 141.2

And that is completely stock appearing, no lightweight body panels, full interior, with correct, original, heads, intake and exhaust manifolds, carburetors, air cleaner, and 2.5 in exhaust with mufflers all the way to the back bumper, and correct Hemi 5/16-in fuel lines.

Congrats Dave on the new best ET, and for putting the Corvette on the trailer and winning the event! Great job.

Not true on a bias ply tire. I should say not True with a purpose built F.A.S.T car

There is no stone left unturned.

Just think the term - “smoke and mirrors”.

Basically a BIG SS/AH engine on the inside looking like a street Hemi on the outside.

Re: Congratulations to Dave Dudek - 06/21/20 03:41 AM

The exhaust manifolds are nothing special. Just extrude honed street hemi manifolds. Remember, it all has to go through mufflers and a two and a half inch exhaust system all the way back to the bumper. And the hemi exhaust manifolds are outstanding as built.

There is not one cheap or non trick parts involved in these cars. Nothing. Not for the usual cheap azz Mopar racer

Deep pockets for sure. It's still way more impressive than a light weight pipe rack.

Any link to that run? And when he put the 'Vette on the trailer? boogie

Re: Congratulations to Dave Dudek - 06/21/20 04:15 PM

He beat the Corvette in the final.

Agreed that a lot of money is spent doing this type of racing but the majority of the racers are hard working blue collar guys.

It took me 15 years to figure it out and who knows how much $ but a wedge was not the right motor to work with in F.A.S.T

I have no complaints I still enjoy it very much but I don't think the Max Wedge will ever see 9's. At least not with a 340 lbs driver??

It’s not lifting up - old school trick to get more fresh air under the hood.

Some guys raise the rear part of the hood to let hot air escape too.

I'm surprised. Would have thought extensively hand ported before extrude honing at least. At best I would think cut/weld/blend so the downward break wasn't so extreme. (try to increase radius at top of manifold ports)
