Almost a new best....w/Vid

Almost a new best....w/Vid - 06/06/20 11:55 PM

Well, first outing. nothing broken, so it went well.....Was hoping for a 5.90, but it seems I will have to wait for further tuning and a track that is better prepped.....

75* perfect day, humidity was low, but I don't know because my gear went dead in the trailer, so taking suggestions on a new weather station...

Attempted to make first pass, ans was waved off for fuel leak....Thanks for seeing that track tech.

1st actual pass went well 6.15 at 110mph with only a 1.36 60ft......Same ET it was running last year with a 6.08 being the best with a super prepped track and a steller 1.31 60ft.....Best pass to date...at 112.8mph

2nd and last pass went better, 6.10 at 112mph with a 1.34 60ft....So I will be pulling plugs to see where they are. Carb has a little surge at idle in gear. I think I need to drill out the IFR's a little more.

So the new heads are starting to work and show the potential, I thought I would see a jump in MPH with the bigger heads....

I am lean in gear, and I think it wants more jet.....I have to look at plugs and see where I am at. I am just surprised there wasn't more mph with these heads. Mid range picked up for sure. When the 60ft comes back, those are 6.0 runs all day. Might see if I have time to pull the intake and find more aluminum to remove....

Problem is, I also have my Cuda in pieces all over the garage right now with wires sticking out of ever opening.

Pulled some plugs.....Lean as a bit$h....So we have to find some more fuel somewhere.....We have a points race next week. And the carb is already on the upper end of where jetting should max out at, so Thumper is going to be doing some internal upgrades for more flow after this coming this week. But this also means there is more MPH in it!.......Once we get the jetting back in....Car should really run where it should

It seems the 6.0 barrier is a tough one to break thru for us average bracket guys.....

A 6.02 is 9.53 territory, and its where I think I will be next week....That's 800hp out of a 400/512!

wow, that's hauling. It sounds like more that 6000 rpm on the shifts. Ok, refresh me on the new heads, cam and compression? And this is the Duster right?

Re: Almost a new best....w/Vid - 06/08/20 01:12 AM

When I say lean, I mean like every plug WHITE with a blue tinge to it scary lean.....So I am guessing I am about 3-4 jet sizes from where it needs to be, but the 1050 is already at #100 and 2 turns out on the idle mixture screws, so going 2-1/4 on mixtures and #102 jets should get me thru next week and then we throw some internal changes at it.......The little 512 wants FUEL!

So cam is a Comp, and all of our current street/strip cars are running it. We love this cam.....I think we have 4 strokers running this cam this year...

Heads are Indy fully CNC ported 325's with 440-1 rockers...I had EZ1's on it....These have the push rods moved out of the intake ports for more of a straight shot at the intake.....Most gorgeous BBM heads I have had the privilege to own.

Compression is 13:1, and shift point was either 6400 or 6500, I will have to check the shift light.......It would be quicker at 6700, but I do not like the cap walk we see when we shift it that high....

Dave, your tunnel ram on my setup would be killer.....Have you tried it yet? And what size are those carbs?

I like the looks of that cam. Its similar to the Brookshire roller I want to try(269/275@50 .688/.645 108). Who cnc'd your 440-1 heads? I will try to keep my shifts below 6500 from now on. I have not tried the T ram yet, that will be August before I can get to it. Dom tells me they are small 750's with 1.375 venturi. Can't wait.
The carb needs bigger IFR's for one. The jetting in my 1100 is only 82/88.
