Front suspension/ steering box

Front suspension/ steering box - 06/04/20 03:31 AM

Driving my car today and it was sloppy. The suspension is fairly new but I have the same old steering box.
I was wondering if I should get a steering box rebuild or flaming river or if there is a rack conversion
I will look for other issues such as torsion bar preload and the ladder bars may not be neutral as this time
Details. 68 roadrunner
3400 lbs
Ladder bar suspension

Currently big block torsion bars and afco front shocks

Check the idler arm first, if it is oaky look at the upper and lower ball joints and then the all the bushing and finally check the preload adjustment on the steering box twocents scope
A little wear here, a little slop some where else and pretty soon you have a loose front end shruggy scope
What year and body style is it?

Thanks.

Cab. It is a 68 satellite
Skinny tires in front
Drag radials out back
Ladder bars

I need double check the preload on the right ladder bar
It might be pushing the car left

But I will check the items you guys suggested.

Car looks amazing.

Thought I remembered it being supercharged or some such?

Ah, Probably got that wrong.....

You've been around off and on for a whole lot of years. Welcome back.

You can try tightening the worm shaft if nothing else is loose

Just go slow here. Tighten it a little and run it lock to lock with drag on the wheels. Tighten some more... When you feel a hard spot, back off to last known setting.
