Does anyone else have results in this cam? Just installed one In my ramcharger and I am extremely impressed with the results.
Just swapped from a 230@050 .525 on 112lsa hyd. roller to the trick flow cam.
This motor made 490hp and 553tq originally. 9.98 to 1, ported sidewinders,rpm intake,
850 Holley, 1 3/4 headers.
I only have seat of the pants to report but this thing now pulls much much harder surprisingly even down low from 2500 way snappier and has much more torque all the way through and pulls to 6k and seems to like 6500 shifts.
I did not expect to gain more low mid range from this swap but it did and it feels significant. I purchased a 3600 converter to replace my
2k stall. I haven’t done the swap yet and I’m not sure it will even be necessary. I’ll likely do it anyways. But this much bigger cam did not hamper the torque down low it increased it.
I can just roll into the throttle now at 25mph and it just starts hazing the 36” tires without any effort all the way through second. It didn’t do that before. I give this cam a 2 thumbs up. 👍
I feel this motor has to be making 580ft lbs and an easy 550hp.
Cam is 243/247@050
.600/.600
108lsa with 104 centerline.

did you use the trick flow roller lifters and their springs as well? that looks like a really promising combo.

We used it in a 470 low deck build with their 240 heads...rpm intake, it made excellent power.

Yeah we've used it on stroker builds and it makes excellent power. I don't know what the street manners are like. I went with a slightly smaller grind in my street car but the TF grind made more power on the dyno.

I am baffled by camshaft theory at this point. The general consensus is a wider lsa will give you more low end. Less camshaft will give you better low end. These theories are false in this case. I went from
230@050 to 243@050 and from
112lsa to 108lsa and I have more power even down low. 🤔
I’m now much less fearful of choosing too big of a camshaft.
And I may never install a wide lsa camshaft again in a typical
Street/strip combo like this again.

I believe the lifters are Howard’s and springs are isky 8005-A?! I believe they’re
400lbs In. Spring. I had the springs for a big solid cam from a different engine.
They’re slightly less pressure than what trick flow recommends but they’re working just fine.

I learn that lesson long ago about LSA on BB Mopars, tighter, closer together, makes more bottom end and quicker 60 ft. times up SB like them tighter than BB do also up
The first time I heard about lobe separation angles and their affect on motor performance was in the mid 1960s, the thoughts where then that wider help the top end RPM power and hurt the bottom end so you would use the wider lobes in a stick shift car and closer LSA on the automatic cars shruggy
When I got into the details much later I found out that the tighter LSA help on both types of motors, stick shift and automatics shock work up
Theory is one thing, at the track and actual driving is another that may or may not agree with the theories work whistling grin
Test, test and test some more until you outrun the speed of light wrench devilbiggrin

Wider LSA gets you less overlap, but, the intake valve closes later creating less stroke for compression. The idle would be a bit cleaner with the wider LSA, but the earlier valve closing pays bigger benefits using the same cam. Take a look at the cards and see where the intake closes on each of your cams at the recommended installed CL. I bet the @ .050 numbers are pretty close

You have it installed at 104 compared to wherever the 112 was installed. Smaller the installed number earlier the valve closes. You are also filling the cylinder better with any increases in lift and maximizing the curve.

Lots of variables.

Trick flow cam card must be fubar. Because I put cam specs in a calculator and I come up with different numbers.
INTAKE
OPEN 11BTDC. CLOSE 51ABDC
EXHAUST
CLOSE 66BBDC OPEN 11ATDC

But when I put in my old cam specs it matches the card.

The "@ .050" numbers for the Trick Flow camshaft are:

............ OPENS.........CLOSES

Intake: 17.5° BTDC 45.5° ABDC

Exhaust:: 55.5° BBDC. 11.5° ATDC

I have this combo in my 500" stroked 440. I'm using the TF 240's OOTB checked, but no changes... 10.75:1 and I love how this thing makes power. I even have my 6 pack setup on it and its not a bad street combo. I'm sure I'm leaving a bit on the table with the 6 pack intake but I'm happy!!!!! I used the Howards max effort lifters.... these hydraulic rollers are noisey but I can live with it.... twocents

Me thinks the numbers on this card are for total duration or maybe at .020 lobe lift work
