anyone ever run an in tank aeromotive 340LPH fuel pump in the tank on a carbed setup ?
if so, how did it work ?
was it able to be regulated down to 5-6psi ?

I had the 255lph & it was no problem, 3/8 supply,3/8 return,, as long as the return is large enough it would work, it might need a 1/2in return
My 450lph will not go that low with the 3/8 return

Not a carbed setup, but I run one in my 2000 BMW M5. Works great. It has a good reputation for performance and reliability and I wouldn't hesitate to put one in a carburated setup with a good regulator and return. I think there are PWM controllers that can vary the voltage to the pump depending on the engine demand.

thanks guys ! up i was planning on a 1/2" return, as i have a 3/8" feed now. i have a holley "blue" regulator [actually, two of them on the shelf, one being new] i was planning to use, after i obtain a rebuild kit. would that regulator work ?
in the future, i may convert to fuel injection. would this setup work reasonably well if i used it on the FI ?

is it a return type regulator ? if yes, there is a spring for low & one for high pressure.

i'm not sure. the new one has three ports, all 1/4"NPT.

Check the part #, a pressure regulator will not work as a return regulator.

I have a Holley Sniper EFI tank with internal 255lph pump and used an Aeromotive 2 stage pressure regulator (P/N 13220) with a carburetor. That regulator is specifically designed to regulate an EFI pump for a carbureted engine. I set my fuel pressure at 6 psi and it holds rock solid.
Here's a link to the regulator: https://aeromotiveinc.com/product/efi-2-carb-dual-fuel-pressure-regulator/
Hope this helps

well, it sure is "enlightening" if one takes the item out of the box and reads the instruction sheet ! laugh2
first of all, the port size is 3/8"NPT, and the regulator is one "in" port and two "out" ports.
secondly, the part number is 12-803. according to the instructions, if this was a return regulator, the part number would be 12-803BP [bi-pass].
so i need to go regulator shopping.
it looks like the aeromotive pump will do what i want it to, thanks to those that have responded with their personal experiences. up
i now have a 3/8" feed line, but i think i will remove that and go to 1/2", since i have to fab a return anyway.
i was thinking of plumbing the return into the filler neck just before it goes into the tank. is that an ok choice ?

I would not put it in the filler tube, fuel will be going all over the place inside the tube, & if you ever opened the fuel cap with the pump on I bet fuel would blow out all over you & the car. the vent at the top of the neck would also be compromised & leak out raw fuel. just my two cents

good points ! i just didn't want to weld on my new stainless tank.
there is no room [at least i don't think there is] to weld in a 1/2" return on the sending unit, so i'll be thinking on another location.
this is down the road a piece. i have the forward radiator/ac condenser mount finalized and done, so the next item on the list is frame connectors.
then motor/transmission removal, underhood restoration, new engine/transmission combo, fuel system, exhaust, etc.
man, i hope i can get this done THIS year !
it's been TOO long since i've had a toy to play with. always fixing other's stuff. [now working on a very good friend's wiring issues on his tractor]
also, [decorative] garden work for my lovely bride. [hard to believe it's been 41yrs we have been together !]

The sending unit can be modified with a 1/2 return, the 3/8 supply will work just fine, also HAPPY Anniversary to Y'all from Katy Texas smile
