Msd grid question

Msd grid question - 04/15/20 05:04 AM

Hey all, just quick question on grid. I'm in the process of switching to grid. I've started running e85. I plan on putting af sensor in. I see you can buy either racepak af sensor or msd one, I have already bought msd's can bus hub, to hook msd af up to it, so you could log it. I have also made the move, and got a racepak iq3s dash. I wondering if you can stream msd readings to racepak dash, so I guess you could see where it's at. Any ideas or suggestions, definitely new to this technology. Thanks

Make sure and buy a NTK sensor for E85, not any other brand tsk

Cab, can I ask why a NTK sensor?

Of those two options I would get the racepak O2 sensor. Not sure where you plan to race but I have seen guys get tossed by tech for just having the can bus in the car. I think some tech guys think if you have the can buss you have an ARC module, which is not necessarily true. You can have it without the ARC. I think they just did not understand what they were looking for..

That sounds great Al, that pretty much talked me into racepak one, I'm more curious about live readings with the o2 sensor. So, let's say, if a guy down the road wanted to put spray on, does a guy need the can bus and arc module, you know? Reason I went with a nice dash, thought it would be nice to have all gauge readings right in front of you.

They are a lot better reading alcohol than the Bosch and other sensors are up

GRID has It's own O2 sensor as well. It cost less than the Racepak unit which I already have. I'm getting ready to put in My GRID with O2 sensor to compare to Racepak but with early Summit ET Brackets canceled due to the virus mess It gives Me more time for getting things installed and ready for electronic warfare to break out in late June, July & August. This is of course right when You don't want to be strapped up in the 104+ F heat of California and Nevada. It's better to have the GRID and a Racepak anyway. More data/graphs to argue about up

So, pretty much with the msd sensor, after every run you need to look at the data to see where your at with air/fuel? How do you see what your air/fuel are as your running the car with grid?

You buy this --> https://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-7765 to integrate with Your GRID. One guy complained the MSD O2 Kit doesn't have analog output. Really?,. You ain't got time for anything more than the other car, glancing at oil pressure and water temp during a run,at least for Me. Check the data when You get back to the Trailer. GRID will display It's own O2 sensor output in the GRID datalogger files but You can also buy the Racepak Sportsman Channel Add-On and put the MSD O2 into the Racepak output as well. As They say: Information is power .

Right I probably will once I get to using it, just thought be nice to have displayed as the car was running on the dash. Yes really don't wanna have to buy racepak sportsman..

What's everyone running for [censored] light with this setup? I want to put an electric solenoid for the shifter and go that route. Do you do everything through the racepak, or you still run a external light?
