Camshaft comparison, your thoughts - 01/14/20 02:31 PM

This is for my W200 360, Edelbrock Performer RPM, Holley 600 VS and 1.625 primary long tube headers. The truck is a stick with 4.10 gears no A/C but it does have power brakes so vacuum at idle is a concern but that can certainly be addressed with an electric pump or reservoir. I would like to be able to rev this engine to at least 6000 RPM. While there may be a stroker crank in the future and a 750 carb right now it's stuck with the low compression pistons. Would like to hear all thoughts.

Comp Nostalgia Plus ------ Howards Cams
Adv. duration 284/291 ----- 289/287
Duration at .050 239/246 - 235/243
Lift .484/.484 ------------------ .480/.488
Lobe sep. angle 108 ------- 109

The lift figures are close enough but it looks like the Comp cam has a faster rate of lift looking at the advertised and .050 lift duration figures. I'm not sure how that would affect the idle vacuum and if the 1 more degree of lobe separation angle on the Howards cam would negate any difference. Thoughts?

I don't think there'd be any real noticeable difference b/t them.
