Between here, other Mopar forums, FB etc.... I’m not certain that I saw an early Ritter block live or in some cases even run at the level Shiloh’s did..... and we’ll use the term “live” loosely. They went great lengths to “make it” work. I’m thinking it will live out it’s days as a coffee table, mail box holder, or a lawn decoration of some sorts.

Bummer. High rpm does have its related costs when poop hits the fan.

Re: Killed it - 11/27/19 09:53 PM

Sorry Shiloh, was it a ccw crank or non? Just curious. My Bryant in my f2 w8 deal is non ccw and seems to be a wet noodle in there somewhat.

Re: Killed it - 11/27/19 10:13 PM

Oh, wow. Sorry to see this. I understand. I had one come apart on the dyno and destroy nearly everything, but not as bad as yours. I had a bit over $10,000 in it. I'm sure you had much more invested. Sorry .

Re: Killed it - 11/27/19 10:33 PM

That engine wasn't mine (fortunately!), I just found the picture online and used it for comparison purposes wink
But if OP busted a crank, it's quite possible that the rods also beat up on the block too...

. No it was not center counterweighted.. Once I went to a dry sump the bearings always looked good...

I'm going to assume you and the car didn't get hurt, which is the only positive thing I can take form that motors death wave
Do any of the new motor parts come from up north?
How soon will it be in the car? work

Dang Shiloh, that's a tough pill to swallow. Been there done that myself. But at my age it has taken me 8 yrs to put things back together. Am sure you are getting lots of advice. So thought I would put a penny's worth in. Can't afford 2 cents. Just looking at your pics I see a couple things I would address. With the rpm you're turning I would look at rotating assembly weight. Maybe BM aluminum rods. I see a serious problem with the pistons. Heavy scuffing up by the ring grooves= bad skirt profile. Just trying to suggest changes I would look into. Not trying to be a know it all, ain't the brightest light in the room. But I've learned from my mistakes. Oh if you don't mind one more thing I would look into would be a center weighted crank. That's my pennies worth. Best of luck to you in your future build.
