Street engine in Daytona - Testing 10/19

Only made 5 passes before this week...
But I got some better runs at Piedmont yesterday (Sat). Close to my original hopes.
1.415 sixty foot
6.415 at 108.4 mph

next run
1.425 sixty
6.417 at 108.5 mph

Both using trans brake and 3500 chip. Previous was footbrake around 1500-1800 rpm.
Not use to staging this car, so it might be in shallower one time than the other.
9.5" converter is tight (as requested), but is likely slowing car down (around 4500)

Last month at VMP Mopar event
1.497 sixty (foot brake)
6.56 1/8 mile at 110.
10.26 1/4 mile at 132

2838 lbs with 230 lb driver (yea, heavy Daytona)
496 CID, 569 HP at 5800 rpm, 571 TQ at 4900
10.3 CR, factory iron heads
1.76 gear PG trans, 4.56 rear with 33" slicks

It is a 1993 Dodge Daytona, all round tube chassis car.
Factory steel doors and hinges, hatch back. One piece fiberglass front end and separate hood.
Strut front end
4-link rear suspension with anti-roll bar
Strange 9-inch rear, 4.56 gears, 15x33-15 slicks
1.76 Powerglide with ATI (compuflow) trans brake
2608 lbs plus 230 driver = 2838 race weight (heavy Daytona)

With this little motor, it should hook on any track... LOL
I am the 3rd owner. Bought the chassis in the spring of this year and I built the trans,but bought the completed new motor and put it on the dyno.

Thanks for the info. You do have some options if you want to lighten it up, but why mess with such a nice looking car. I ran the 440 out of my 70 Challenger in an Arrow I used to have, while I was restoring the Challenger. Car ran 10.30’s at 4800 ft DA, and like you said, hooked on anything. You have what should be a low maintenance, consistent, and fun car. I miss that! Good luck with it. If you ever get tired of that chassis, let me know. Jim

Looks good. If you ever want to go faster (and lose some weight in the process) you can bolt on a set of Trick Flow heads. That would take 40 or 50 lbs off the nose and pick up the power some.
