Sec. Plate Info for S/S 426 Hemi Holley Carbs 4235 & 4236 - 10/04/19 08:22 PM

As the title states I'm working on a set of 426 Hemi Holley carbs (list 4235 and 4236) for my brothers 68 Hemi Dart and I'm trying to find what the original factory secondary plates were for these carbs. (as the carbs seems to have been messed with by a previous owner)

The secondary plates I have currently are both stamped with 34R-9716B (casting #) and
The Left 4236 is stamped with a number "6" which translates to a .070 main and a .026 idle
The Right 4235 is stamped with a number "39" which translates to a .073 main and a .029 idle..

I have a feeling these are not right or maybe they are.... I just want to make sure..
I'm not having much luck out on the internet and I'd figure I'd turn to the experts.

Thanks in advance for any help you may lend...

Go to Holleys tech section to see what rear metering plates where stock on those carbs from day one scope

Thanks Cab I went to Holley's technical support pages and got a listing specs table of both carbs but unfortunately under the Secondary Main Jet or Plate column it states N/S instead of a part number for both 4235 & 4236 (With no explanation of what N/S means).

How about calling them now? I would up scope
Ask for both sizes, fuel and bleed sizes on both sides of the metering plates I seem to be remembering some of the cross ram carbs had different fuel size feeds on the secondary plates, not the same on both left and right sides of those carbs. scope

I’m not sure what the original part numbers were, unless your engine is a stroker or has ported heads and a large roller cam those plates are probably very close in jetting for what you need.
On my stocker engine I use .030 idle and .073 main jet. On the older super stock engines my father used to run we had .032 -.080 plates.

I have a new set (repop) of 4235/4236's here. I was going to see what numbers are on them for you. But I don't see a number. Except 5792 stamped upside down in the center. Do I need to take the metering plate out?

The other one, the 4236, is stamped 5790.

Ok, I did find those numbers in one of my Holley books so they are legit numbers. But that doesn't tell us that those numbers are correct or a 68.

I'm beginning to think those numbers might be correct. They are staggered jets and different from carb to carb hence having 2 carb numbers on 68's as opposed to 3116's for either side of a 64/65.

Just to confirm what was posted - Per the Holley Illustrated Parts & Spec’s Book the original metering plates are: List 4235 plate # 5792, List 4236 plate # 5790. I’ll note, I rebuilt an original pair of these carbs years ago for a friend, and my notes show those metering plate numbers, but with the applications reversed, although I’m sure the carbs had been rebuilt before, so who knows if they were swapped.

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions everyone

I finally called the Holley tech line this afternoon and found out the plates they use were the 5792 and 5790's .

They had them in stock and I ordered one of each.. I also bought 2 new correct primary metering blocks as the ones on the carbs were not original to the carbs (as they were anodized black).
