Traction is usually not an issue at Norwalk. Especially with the beautiful conditions they are calling for. I’ll miss you by a week Al and I will be out there for a big money race next weekend. Best of luck to you guys.

We wont be there until Friday Morning. So I'm sure we'll be on the grass side. Trying to bring home the bacon in N/SS.

Damn thing spun. I was going for the throat as #1 qualifier pays $600. The test run this morning was a 9.251 on A/FX 9
25 index. Tomorrow's another day, beer time now. Were on the grass side past the finish line.

Be sure to “enjoy” the “true green” timing system they use. They are the only track using it and you will see more red lights than ever, beware!

I noticed that at Monster Mopar

Re: Racing NMCA in Norwalk this weekend - 08/24/19 01:08 PM

It's not true green. It's true start. That means if both cars red light the one that was worst loses regardless of dial-in. And on a positive note we ran 9.251 on 9.25. Curreny qualified #1. They're paying $600 for #1 qualifier.

I hate it when the politicians get involved in drag racing decisions rant
First or worse has been in place since I started racing in 1964, why would you give any drag racer a second chance on red lighting work confused First red light looses in my book, not the worst red light work shruggy
Nanny world rules maybe down twocents shruggy

One of the NSS cars, a Thunderbolt just got into the wall on the big end. It appeared it was on it's roof and I don't think the driver was out when they cut away to commercial. Praying the driver is ok.

Jerry Stamps. He got out on his own. It was a beautiful car.

Isn’t this the second Thunderbolt to wreck recently.

Re: Racing NMCA in Norwalk this weekend - 08/25/19 04:37 AM

The driver was OK per a post on Classracer.com. Video of the car being hoisted on the wrecker. The roof held up well, not so much on the front end. There were skid marks where it looked like it made a sharp right turn into the wall.

Re: Racing NMCA in Norwalk this weekend - 08/26/19 01:29 AM

My highlights were limited to being the #1 qualifier. At least it was a one time special that paid $600. After beating Dan Fabian twice back to back at Monster Mopar he was on a mission. His .004 .03 over on the brakes I ran into in the 1st rd ended my day.

My buddy, Kevin Gass went out in the semi's but I think he's still leading the NSS points.
Posted By: 66coronet

Re: Racing NMCA in Norwalk this weekend - 08/27/19 06:14 PM

Kevin is still leading by a large margin.

I made it to the semis in NSS before I bowed out in a double breakout. I took .006 stripe. I needed to take .003
That is about as close as I am going to get it and still see it at 137mph and he was running nearly 150.

Doug, if yall want to do the #1 and #2 qualifier money again... then the racers just need to organize it and do it. It does not have to be a one time thing. I organized this one and put the first chunk of the money up to get the ball rolling.

Re: Racing NMCA in Norwalk this weekend - 08/27/19 07:32 PM

Well we started Norwalk as we have every race this year with basically a new car...Had lots of issues with the rear end and getting converter happy. I can report that when we go to Indy we will be starting off on the right foot. Car is finally getting back to where it was in Memphis. We were 3 quickest in Q3, R1 nd R2, NO ONE has anything foe Leonard Longs Red car. Unless he makes a mistake he is THE guy this year. He spun in the semis and final and ended up R/U and I'm sure in Indy will go 70's. We will hit the ground running and hopefully finally show something good in Indy. We had a new best top speed of 170, we qualified with an 8.07 and finally have the chassis, gear and trans in what seem to be a happy place. So we can start from there rather than over as has been the case every race. The only "severe" carnage of the weekend was loosing a plug in Q1, best air of the weekend. Oh well on to Indy we a going

I have been Ryans crew chief for a few years. Yes we kinda have a spork at a gunfight but the rules favor a couple of combos over us for sure. Its just a small block chevy with a single four in basically a street car. We are generally mid pack, qualifiers 6-13 were all in the 8.0's,it is what it is. Hopefully the NMCA looks at the rules a bit this off season. They dropped weight penalties from the clutch guys and it shows. Also a certain engine combo has a VERY favorable weight break currently and hopefully they look at that as well. And don't even get me started on the chassis stuff, some of these cars have more in common with my Top Sportsman car than anything resembling whats in the rule book. But we will keep plugging away
