IRON CNC HEAD SHOP - 08/17/19 08:20 PM

There is a shop. I think in Ohio, that has a CNC program for BB iron Mopar heads. Anyone have that info? Thanks

The shop is called KG Engines. Here’s their website:

The quality of a CNC head = the quality of a xerox machine.
At best it can be only slightly worse than the original.

Seen some of their work on a few cars, the cars have picked up considerable power over some comparable hand ported stuff.

While they do port work, thier claim to fame is not the actual port development but taking a proven port and moving it to the CNC machine.

Saves considerable time (and consequently money) with consistent port to port flow.

taking a proven port and moving it to the CNC
Exactly: if the model* from which the data points were taken is successful, and the tooling is properly programmed**, the CNC product will work well. If either of these is not adequate, it won't.

* most common error I've heard of:
Customer: "I have an iron BBM. What castings and chamber volume do you have programs for?"
Shop: "................... What?" He'll use the one he has, even if it's from a different but interchangeable casting (906 vs. 452 etc.)

** running the program from fewer angles or at higher speed gives coarse finish and less accuracy on internal surfaces

Wow... it’s nice to see someone running off at the mouth about a company they have NO experience with. I personally don’t have experience with their heads ether but I have seen them in person and I know TONS of people that do and make big power with them. I also know for a fact that the owner has separate programs for at least 4 different BBM head castings (516,915,906,452etc) rolleyes

If you had read his post before you ran off at the mouth, you would see he wasn't talking about any company in particular and that you actually agree with him, different castings need different programs.

516, 906, 452 heads don’t have similar enough port shapes to be able to use the same program for all 3.

If one were to try it, they’d likely end up with holes in the head.

Wonder if they do any work on the source heads. Might be a reliable avenue for them.

Modern Cylinder head has a program for CNC porting the 440 Source heads scope
One of my customer has a set on one of his motors.

They did mine. Very nice work! They even CNC the combustion chambers.

Not to mention broken tooling.
